Breton or High Elf? For becoming Emp

So I started playing ESO in 2015 but only played it for a week and stopped (I don’t know why) but now I’ve bought it again and I’m going to start a new character tonight, I am a noob when it comes to ESO but I’ve been watching a lot of videos to try and understand it more. Now I know this might sound optimistic, but I want to become Emperor, just to get the trophy, so which class/race do you think I should choose? I’ve read online that playing as a High Elf or Breton magic and sorc is the best option because they have high DPS? Anyway let me know what you guys think, any help is much appreciated

I would go Nord. Definitely. Because race and class are totally irrelevant for becoming Emperor, the only thing that counts is farming tons of AP and have a good group to support your Emp push when you're finally #1. So, Nord. Adds style points too.

For PVP Breton wins High Elf anyday. Even in PVE breton is pretty solid race. I see some pros solo dlc vet dungeon bosses with breton. Breton is only underrated in my opinion. High elf is overrated. High elf only produce 4 percent extra shock/ flame damage. Not your entire damage output.
Dunmer is much better in many ways over high elf for PVP.

As @Feanor said, you can be Emporer in any race ... it’s just having the willpower to farm AP and a little luck from your Alliance faction.

High Elf is the best for damage, but in the long run it wont make much difference if you are on an EMP mission. As stated above this mostly just means farming AP for days straight and then getting a push from a group. On a populated campaign you will have to stay online for days to get it.

I genuinely wish I didn't have life commitments so I could do it. Haha

Any race with a restoration staff spamming mutagen can collect gobs of AP. Heck with the way AP is easier to get now, you don't even need mutagen, just farm ticks, pick up AP boon, rinse, repeat.

As others have said race and emp ambitions are not linked.

Know this though fella, talk of just 'ticking off' emp. Or wanting it for the throne or the dye or the cheevo generally doesn't sit well.

It's the highest pVp accolade in the game, treat it with that respect. Aim to use it for your alliance to win the campaign etc. There's a bigger picture.

Nords do look the coolest tho

Yeah I know, I’m not expecting to become Emperor anytime soon, maybe not even in 2018 lol, and another question I forgot to ask, what Alliance should I choose?

If you ask me. Pact all the way. As they cool, red is a good colour. AD zerg and cheat...

Haha but seriously. It depends on your platform / region or your inner role play. I only have Pact toons and hate the other alliances both in PvE and PvP. BUT that's each to their own.

Also you need to plan your campaign. You doing it leveling on Kyne (sub L50), Sotha (noCP), Shor 7 day turnover or Vivec which is beast mode as highest pop

All that may help decided alliance for your region / platform / friends list / tine you play etc.

TLDR - Pick Pact. They the best.

You played ESO in 2015, but bought it again? Playing on a different platform now? Just curious as to why buy something again when you had it already unless playing on a different platform.

well back when I got emp in 2016 i think my cp was only in the mid 300s (which was definitely below max at the time), but I had really good gear (golded out etc) thanks to my partner. i was a nightblade Khajiit with AD.

i suggest you work your way up, gold out your gear, practice your pvp rotations, and make friends with pvp guilds because you'll have a hard time getting anyone to help you. otherwise, I wouldn't ever suggest getting emp. it was a pretty awful experience for me but like you I wanted the trophy for the Platinum. the only reason I got emp is because on the last day i got lucky and a huge pvp guild came in and flipped the map randomly. if you don't want to build relationships with guilds I guess you'll have to be like me and get lucky.
i had about 1.5M AP when I got emperor, that might give you an idea of how much you'll need, but since I don't play eso anymore I'm not sure what it's like now. wish you luck

This really depends on how many hours each day you put in the game and if you are willing to just grind for XP the entire time. Personally I hate grinding and recommend you just enjoy other aspects of the game and level at a moderate pace. You might also want to spend some time in the below 50 level PvP campaign just to get a feel for your character in that environment. Start making friends that PvP right away and join a PvP guild. Without a lot of people behind you making emperor isn't going to happen no matter how good a player you are. If you join in when others are making their run they tend to remember that.

It is going to be a long long process starting with a new character.

And as others have said when it does come time to make that push clear your calendar. Others plan getting emperor around school breaks or vacations from work and go with little sleep. You are going to have to be as committed just to have a chance.

I played with my brother (dark elf) during his adventure to become emp, it took him a few weeks of playing every day for long stretches before he finally made it, I think he was at 6 million AP at that point, on a no-cp campaign that tended to stay red. He played with the main emp group of between 12-20 players, just doing sieges, resource capturing and some really fun, desperate keep defenses.

From my observations, though, the easiest time to become emp is during the first day of a campaign, when the leaderboards are in disarray before the main high scoring groups really get started. Campaign also matters as you want one that is predominantly the same alliance as you. And what another poster said is absolutely true, people generally don't want to just carry someone to the emperor role, *although* they're more open to the idea on that first day before the leaderboards really matter.

On PC NA I’d try AD on Shor. They Zerg and roll up the map nightly. In Vivec I’d try any alliance but EP. The Pact gains way more AP than any other alliance. You’d never catch the top 10 or 20.

My first run at Emp on an Argonian healer failed, so I spent 5 months preparing a new character - Khajiit DK - for a second attempt. Not long before she was ready I decided she'd be better as an Imperial. And glad I made that choice, because the Imperial racial passives are better than the Khajiit's.
