    I like buying shiny things.

Edit: Bet the last votes are mostly wistful thinking.

Actually, no. The poll needed to go further, like

    1-3 Million
    3-5 Million
    5-10 Million etc.

I know a couple of friends who also keep 3-9 million and some other, who own 50 million. PC EU, if this means anything.

15 characters worth of writs a day (sometimes 29 characters) nets me 70k alone. Add in anniversary motifs and the random valuable recipe, I do okay. But mostly I just don't buy things aside from respecs and houses (I own 10 for-gold ones). It takes away from the hoard.

Do you spend gold on maxing out motif / recipe knowledge on more than one character?

If so, is it worth it? Do you get enough master writs to justify spending millions of gold and hours of farming filling out motif knowledge on more than one character?

    I'm just curious.

I'm using the money that I get on alts (from doing crafting writs, dailies etc) to buy motif pages to get a slightly higher chance to get 'big' (as in many vouchers) master writs. Not sure if it's worth it, but I don't have much use for that extra gold any more.

No. At most, in the 4 years of the game, I've spent 500k on any of these things. My main has learned motifs and recipes only, I do not farm them myself for profit (I can't do dungeons in general), I do not buy anything over 20k, and I pride myself on being self-sufficient. If I need something I truly cannot get (like those dungeon motifs) I'll wait until prices drop. Anything new and shiny is not for me. I'll get there, no worries. My other characters are all level 50 crafters (not all JC yet ofc - but the others) and get master writs which my main does. Costs me nothing. I've heard the whole "playing the market" argument and I just laugh. Can't be bothered, I'm a dragon, I hoard, that's all.

Worked my but off farming things to sell when housing and Morrowind came out.

As others said: it is getting harder to make gold since the anniversary event crashed the motif market and everyone trying to make gold is forced into too few other things to sell.

I suspect crashing the market was intentional and is working as intended. There were too many people buying things with gold (houses, motifs, funiture) instead of crowns and gems.

Joke is on them. I won't buy a house with crowns that I can get with gold. Just takes longer it I wont buy at all.

The poll is a bit lopsided, it's not really that hard to have more than 1,000,000 in gold in this game. I've spent my fair share of gold on houses, crafting materials, motifs, and recipes as well as horse training on 9 characters. That said I still have close to 750,000 gold between all the characters and what's in the bank.

There was a time when I though getting even a few thousand in gold was a lot but when you get leveled up higher it's not hard to start accumulating more, faster.

I usually have around 1mil+ in my bank. The jubilee event this year really gave me a lot of gold. And now I put every 50k in my bank, but I do spend some for motifs and houses. Otherwise I'm a huge penny pincher.

Its so easy to make money in this game, especially if you're in a decent trading guild.

Just like irl, I'm terrible at saving. I know I've made a few mil (black market mogul here) but it's all gone to my home. I probably could make more by actually selling some of my mats and stuff, but I usually just give things away to my guildmates or an occasional random player in Cyrodiil asking for stuff in zone, or I'll put things like motifs I already have into the guild bank. Some still pay me even if I tell them no charge, but I never expect it and am always willing to help out when I can. The one guild I'm in doesn't get a trader too often, and I do list some things when we have one, but I'm not greedy and try to keep my prices fairly reasonable, though I briefly considered listing my worm cult chest motif for a mil just for fun, lol. The most I've had at once was 700k that immediately went to buying my home which, at the time, left me with less than 1k. Luckily the luxury furnisher hasn't had anything I've wanted for weeks so I've been able to get back up to almost 500k, but I know those beautiful blue crystals are coming back soon and I can never have too many crystals at my place (well over 100 and counting). Not to mention the Achievement furnisher in Summerset has a few things that I want to get as soon as I finish certain achievements.

    Eh, 50% isn't a majority.

But yeah, the poll does point out that there's an economic issue or two, when half the population has "more money than god" and the other half is basically broke.

And "more things to spend money on" isn't a great solution, because the folks that can just print money as fast as they like will buy the new thing and keep building up 10's of mil more, and the broke people will just stare at the list of Things We Can't Buy getting longer and longer.

13 characters. About 1 mil on my main at any time and I leave 100k on each alt, the rest gets thrown into the bank where millions are collecting dust.

The ESO economy is in a pretty bad slump right now and I've mostly stopped interacting with it. I get my funds from more constant sources like daily crafting writs and undaunted plunder from trials. The crafting writs alone are like 350k a week.

I've made exactly 2M over 6 days last week, from doing the crafting writs and selling some of the cheapest (<10K) motif pages I've gotten during the Jubilee event 3 months ago, as well as some of the Rosin & Kuta stashed in the craft bag, mostly from craft writs; both passed 1K and there's no way I'll need that many for myself. The motifs were sitting in bank and taking up space, and the prices didn't seem to improve so I decided to sell them now. I didn't discount them much, just 2-5% under MM price but they sold pretty fast. I've managed to sell about 300 items in total last week on my 3 guilds, which freed up about 200 slots in bank since some of the pages were stacked in 2, 3 and even 4.

Eh... I'm around 12m at the moment. I don't work as hard on making gold for myself anymore. I don't have all the houses but I have the ones I want. I'm self sufficient with all my mats. Nowadays if I get something cool, I'll put it towards my guild first. Like this Friday my guild auction will have a Fang Lair chest motif, worth around 350k on PS4 NA right now. When it dropped for me last night, my first thought was for the auction instead of selling it. That is why I don't make gold like I used to :p

1.2 million - Active since December and I didn't spare any of that on motifs and I didn't try to hunt them either.
Just played the game around. Although I have healthy stack of mats - around 20k of each top level material, except jewelry which is around 5k plus around 100+ of each gold improve (except jewelry again)
I have been burnt out by many games so I don't want to be the same with ESO - just playing with my tempo.

I don't do guild trading, if I have a spare recipe or motif or something I know other players might want I'll list it on my guild store, but we don't have a trader so it's just for other people in my guild. As a result I make gold relatively slowly compared to a lot of people on this forum, and I only save it until I have enough for the next thing I want to buy.

As a result I rarely get over 50,000, although I have had over 400,000 (when I was saving to buy a house), and at some point I want to buy the Summerset town house so I'll have to get over 1 million gold.

hehe. I also debated doing this but thankfully had a gut instinct that jewellery legendary writs, if followed the same example as Clothing etc would be bad to make, for the foreseeable future.

I play ESO on an account basis, not a character one. 15 characters, all maxed in crafting (Apart from Jewellery), doing double writs every 2 days. Almost all have the 50+ motifs achievement, the achievements for harvesting and ones for refining (Surveys ftw).

The main problem i am witnessing is this:

New players joining the game. Get put off by the massive grind to catch up with some of the older accounts. Many quit.

ZOS keeps putting band aids on this and making events like with the Anniversary boxes giving motifs and gold items. So many (People who play with 1 main char) still have 100's of motifs they are slow selling from this that is has crashed the whole market. In my eyes it was unwise to reward harder to get items by doing a daily normal, or crafting writ.

On top of this, older accounts, like mine, just snowball gold daily. Only reason i sell items is to keep in my top end guilds, there is little to no need for gold at this point and has become quite stale tbh.

It also, plays on my mind, me playing harder content like farming vFH, vBF, vSC etc when why bother, just wait and do your daily random normal/crafting writ when event comes around.

I have over 10 houses easily, everyone used as storage for LUXURY items i am hoarding and reselling. Housing isn't even a gold sink in this game as it is a time waste. A 700 item cap on an instanced event is like MMO 2010 and gives little to no customisation.
