an easy fix for jewelry to make it less awful

How does Zenimax expect people to complete jewelry master writs at LEGENDARY level if we can't get the gold level platings?
There's a simple fix:
1- refining and farming should give players more plating grains
2- 10 plating grains should give between 5 and 10 platings
3- deconstructing and daily writs should give platings instead of grains
4- jewelry hirelings - also giving platings & trait materials as well as, on occasion, rare trait jewelry to research.
5- chests, psijic portals and pickpocketing should have a chance to give a piece of jewelry with a rare trait and/or rare trait item
It's disgusting that certain traits only drop from PvP when many of us came for the Elder Scrolls: NOT the MMO

1. Remove the grains system completely
2. Add hirelings
3. Award gold mats from top tier writs at the same rate as blacksmithing, clothing and woodworking.
Basically make it like the other 3 equipment crafts. These other 3 crafts are balanced for the most part. Jewelcraft would be no different. You can make the argument that jewelry should be something special and harder to craft and I respect that opinion, even if I disagree. It's only different because ZOS wants it to be different, not for game balance reasons.9 -

While it is annoying that the majority of traits don't actually drop on standard items, none of the trait stones or exemplary items are bound so all players do have access to them. ZOS could have been especially tight with them and forced players to go pick those items up themselves by keeping all new traits and stones bound to the player. I'm quite happy they did not go that direction.
My concern with traits is that if you want any of the new traits on your jewelry, your only options are to craft it that way (if it's a crafted set) or transmute it. In my opinion, transmutation should have been the thing you do to put a stop to the grind at a point. It's what you do when you can't farm the trait you want. It shouldn't be the only option to get the desired trait.

ZoS wants to split everything possible. Just look at the new motifs. They're stretching their already thin content even more.2 -

As an Elder Scrolls fan and PvP player, I support your statement with one condition:
If you take Triune jewelry away from the PvP reward bags ... then you also need to remove Harmony jewelry from the Undaunted reward chests.

Lirkin✭✭✭✭How about making it so I don't have to do dailies or group dungeons to get some of the materials to craft the traits;
personally I am not sure any of the new types of jewelry are worth using.1 -
A very simple solution would just be to increase the drop rate of grains by 10x. That way it would match the necessary number of materials needed to make a plating.
Or, as many people have suggested time and time again, just replace grains with platings outright. Either one would be fine with me, but also the difference in jewelry quality isn't ridiculously substantial. My green/blue Julianos jewels seem to be working just fine. But as a perfectionist/completionist, I'd like to have them in the highest quality possible, and I don't see that happening for at least a year or so while the market fills up with mats, and while the respective prices begin to drop.1 -

Acharnor✭✭✭✭Preach to the Choir! So agree. Hate with a passion this grain business. JC is effectively not usable/functional in any meaningful way for the average player making crafted jewelry something way beyond "special". I started to get excited about a couple of crafted sets I could put together but hopes were quickly dashed. I might be able to make a green set of jewelry on my own. But then I'd be off to buy blue and purple platings = a lot of gold to upgrade.
JC has the potential to open this game up to so many ways of playing but is just a huge disappointment. Frustrated.Celebrate for life is short but sweet for certain.2 -
