Fresh Download of game gone haywire

Trying to reinstall the game after a long time being away, I get through 40gb/55~ish but then used the pause button as I had to then go out. When I returned and went to resume it insisted that I had to redownload all 55gb again (which takes about a whole day to complete).

My depot folder in the installation folder contains a number of Z# files (up to z20) which I take to be completed segments of the game, and a number of very similar named files marked as partial downloads, from z01-z28, which I believe are the game trying to download all files, including ones I already have.

Is there any way to salvage what I have got? Would save a fair bit of time and internet quota

If you didn't close the launcher is should be resuming. It may first "verify" the other files though, which can look like downloading when looking at the progress bar. It will also "apply patch" etc sometimes and then continue downloading.
