Is Zaans being Allowed in Trials guilds now?!

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

I really don't think any guild has ever banned zaan in trials. It could be that they found that other monster sets outperform because they work better at range. Or maybe you mean dps phrases for range dds where it would not really make sense to use it.

In general any normal guild will allow you to use every set independent how strong it may be as long as it is not bugged(exploit) and gives you good dps or gives a disadvantage to your group(tanks don't like to be swarmed by big Deadroth). For top builds they may require special sets for grp buffs.
Ice Furnace: This item set now grants Spell Damage, rather than Weapon Damage for the 4 piece bonus

Zaan was not used and considered unrepresentative in parses last patch by trial guilds because you can't use in in vAS, which was the trial everyone was running. Now the meta and content has changed for Zaan to be pretty viable.

whoever said that about it not being viable in vas never used it. the range that it can proc in pve is fairly far you dont need to be in melee. and it works just fine.

If a guild requires you to wear certain sets and achieve certain numbers, then it's time to move to a new guild...Not a fan of parsing as it's numbers can be fudged and is not indicative of how one does in a trial.
What good are numbers if you can't move out of stupid? or ultimate on trash?

They should make target dummies that drop AOEs on the ground while you parse.

then no guild would require parses or half of them would never be able to go as theyd never get their dps high enough. lol

It never the less means that you often cant proc it in vAS because you can't get close enough when kiting, when AOEs are in the way or when you need to focus a sphere and it is single target while the hardmode is mostly a cleave fight.

my guild rolls both granted its harder but it is a bit faster with kills.

I run zaans in my trials guild depending on the fight. Zaans is a lot more viable than many think on a ranged character, especially a mNB. Its not great for every fight but there are some where it shines very well.

Yep and esp for builds that use trap.

Perhaps if guilds spent more.time creating a good atmosphere vs enforcing rules to feel special perhaps even the competitive community across many games would consider joining one. I can understand perhaps disallowing lower dps but calling people out on stuff being used in game, yikes.

Gear restrictions are a valid concern.

Zaan's is a melee set. That means it's not effective in every fight. Some less experienced guilds might also be uncomfortable healing magicka toons who stay in melee range where they take more damage (Zaan's negates one of the primary benefits of taking a magicka class over a stamina class, which is the safety of ranged damage).

I don’t believe anyone can ever get the amazing dps results they have on a dummy in a trial. Last time I check, everything tries to kill you in a trial.

It's easy to teach someone mechanics. You can do it during a run. You can't teach someone an effective DPS rotation on the fly though. Testing for DPS is far more important.

Parse is to test ceiling not floor. Low ceiling = def suck. High ceiling may suck too, def seen those ppl, but it’s at least worth a shot.

I dont like Zaans personally as a DPS because it has a radius limit and single target. I prefer Skoria because it will not break if I have to back up for a mechanic and has an aoe plus literally no cool down so with all my dots, it's constantly going. I thought I would love Zaans but I tried it for a bit and didn't like it.

I'm a magblade so I tested a fully range parse (using destro ult instead of soul harvest) with Skoria and always stand 11m away from dummy (or whatever max range of twisting path is). I drop drom 42k to 40k. Skoria does lesser than Zaan about 1k damage/sec. So the different isn't that much to call it a cheese.
