running 5x shackle 5x Necro 2x Valkyn on my magwarden doing pretty well but sometimes feel like the oblivion enchant proc isn't actually doing anything with my infused staff (maybe its a you won't miss it till your gone type of thing)

would it be better to run a sharpened infused or nirnhoned staff for PvP?

spell damage is 2.5k
max mag is 43k
just fyi

I run nirn. Infused or sharpened doesn’t seem bad, depends on the build but I’d take infused unless it’s a gank or high penetration build.

Could always back bar the oblivion enchant.

If you are good at weaving (firing Light attacks) or using Destro staff skills a lot, then Infused would be great with damage enchants, because it procs just crazy as often, basically every sec or even less and this is a huge DPS increase, just freakn huge.

I weave between all my attacks yeah, just was wondering if the consistent stat increase from nirnhoned or penetration from sharpened outweighed infused. If what you're saying is true though then an infused staff with an oblivion enchant should be better, thanks!

In pvp Spellpen doesn’t penetrate shields. Most people are running some sort of spell shield or sword and board. Sorcs, dks, Templars, mageblades all use shields. With s&b Most people have perfected the art of blockcast and can sustain block indefinitely between attacks. the only class not using a shield is stamblade and your not likely going to hit them anyways with their rediculous dodge roll to infinity and shuffle miss chance window. Stick with infused oblivion or nirn At least it’s satisfying to know that your weapon is doing something... I strongly believe spell pen is overrated in pvp given the current shield stacking meta.

FYI oblivion damage enchant is not increased by infused but is increased by torugs. No idea why...

I had best results with double infused staff on my sorc on PTS. Was using the spelldmg increase glyph on backbar and the glyph which restores magicka and deals mag dmg on frontbar. Pure damage glyphs aren't worth it imo because status effects can't proc against shields and against specific racial passives.
I used to think that PvP was a tragedy, but now I realize, it's a comedy.

Try Infused Shock instead. Enchants have 20% chance to proc their status effects, and shock procs concussed which is extremely powerful, using infused means you will have higher uptime on that, making it a consistent debuff on the enemy. I also usually get higher tooltips (EDIT: As in, damage dealt, not actual tooltips) on Shock glyphs instead of Oblivion glyphs on my Magblade in BGs, I think it's because I fight a lot of medium/light armor builds there.

But if you still don't like it, definitly go Nirnhoned. You don't need more penetration because you already have 10k pen with only Concetration + Major Breach. Nirn will make your heals stronger as well while maintaining similar (or better) damage than Sharpened.

Don't know if this is a bug or not, but even though the tooltip reads higher you still only hit for what I believe th cap to oblivion damage is. For example, with torugs my tool tip reads 2.7k, however, I'm only hitting players for 2.1k. It's like I'm hitting an oblivion cap wall and wasting the extra potency from torugs.

I am personally a fan of Nirnhoned. Sharpened is situationaly really strong, but there are a lot of mag sorcs out there (trips over a mirror) and you can't penetrate shields. My favorite enchant is oblivion, and I have heard rumblings that it doesnt work with Infused, but cant personally confirm. Nirn is also really nice (better than infused) if you want to run poisons from time to time. I prefer to run an infused back bar staff with a weapon/spell damage glyph. If you get in the habit of light weaving a skill from your back bar every rotation, you will have it up basically 100% of the time. I always try to light weave my hardened ward on my sorc.

Shock glyph on either infused or nirnhoned destro staff. What's not to like about 40% chance to proc minor vulnerability per enchant proc (on unshielded targets)
Infused for best sustained damage. Nirnhoned if you have good burst combos.

Sharpened - The only one of the 3 traits who can increase the damage done from proc set's. Also good option for DoTs.

Nirnhoned - The only one of the 3 traits who can increase your raw healing. You have to note how higher your base magic damage is the weaker the impact will be.

Infused - Superior for backbar de-/buff enchants. Also good for burst in the right build.
    PC EU - DC only
