When to use experiance scrolls?

I am level 50 with CP of 100ish. Just got the free experience scroll and was wondering when do I use them? Is it worth using now on CPs at low 100s or should I use it on my character that is level 4 or wait till he is at a higher level? So basically when to use experience scrolls and not to use experience scrolls?

I believe your level 4 will get an experience scroll from the level up rewards somewhere in the teens.

Edit: I should mention the level up rewards are character bound. I would also recommend getting to CP 160, if you aren't already because that's the gear cap.

I found the best use of experience scrolls is right before I do a bunch of master writs. Master writs grant a lot of experience, and you can do them in 5-10 minutes each making the most of the time allotment for your experience scroll. As far as level goes, I do not think it really matters what level you are at as its based on time and percentage.

Thank you very much @summitxho . I haven't done Master writs yet so will save them when I do.

I horde mine until I'm in the 40s because getting those last few levels always kills me. Just personal preference. But It would probably be most worthwhile to save them for CP farming.

The best time to use the scrolls is to focus on skill building, not leveling.

For example, if you have some skills you just unlocked, the exp scrolls will rank them faster. Remember, these scrolls are applied to everything, not just level!

So, what you do (and who you use it on) depends on what skills you want to level quickly.

If you're "this close" to getting level 10 in a crafting skill, or wish to unlock more skills with the level 4, determines best use.

Once you figure out what character to use it on, find a dungeon. Public is great if you don't want to waste time waiting for a group.

IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! make sure you slot the skills you want to gain exp!

Once you enter the dungeon, use the exp scroll.

Then stay there for the next hour or two and just kill everything you see moving.

Exp gains level up your skills and you can walk out easily with level IV skills.

    Or....

you can head on over to PvP world, find a zerg team, pop the scroll, and walk out with Caltrops and Vigor in a few hours.

    The choices are endless.

Last time I checked the xp scrolls don't make you earn more AP so you won't gain ranks and hence vigor faster.

I usually use xp scrolls at the end boss of a random dungeon. That way i gain most xp for that round and still have time left for more dungeons later on

I like to second this, but as @Violynne said already, put on the skills you like to level before handing in writs.

btw. it doesn't matter how many voucher your master writs yield, XP gain is always good. (And you can hand in many more writs then run dungeons within the time the scroll is up). If there are some minutes left hand in dailies (you have to complete them beforehand) -> that also yields a bunch of xp.

Maybe on a last boss at a random normal group dungeon and then head off to do bunch of master writs and then grind the remaining time?

Usually I only use these when either leveling a new character or leveling a new skill... or both. To level a skill or character quickly I usually do dolmen runs for a few hours- this tends to level my character and/or skills very quickly. Many don't like this because they find it boring, but I have a blast grinding dolmens,

I'd advise keeping xp scrolls until such time as you feel you need them, if that time arises. There's nothing to be gained in this game by reaching the "endgame" sooner rather than later, especially in respect of your first character. Take your time and enjoy the journey.

Xp scrolls don't affect crafting inspiration. The only things affected is xp from quests/fighting. Inspiration/AP/Tel Var stones are not affected

Second saving them for when you have a stack of Master Writs, with the addition of waiting for a double XP event (I believe the next one is the Witches' Festival in October, I don't think the Midyear Mayhem gives boosted XP). They stack.

I will also note you can craft the items needed for the Writs in advance, so you don't need to waste scroll time running between crafting stations.

What you want to do with the master writs, is to actually make the gear, glyphs, provisioning, potions, whatever, without using the writs first, and then go to the vendor. Then when you get there, use the scroll...with a single 30 minute scroll, you can bust through 30 or even more master writs easily, because the stuff's already made... also, if you haven't completed the MQ yet, then after you make all the gear and before you go to the vendor, do the next quest in the MQ storyline, up until the point that it's ready to turn in, and back out of the dialog. Use the scroll, then complete the quest, and then go right to the master writ vendor with the stuff you made previously...the MQ's are always worth a good deal of XP, plus a skillpoint too

AcadianPaladin, you can get some XP from crafting activities, but it's rather minimal, and not worth trying to expand with the scroll, because, as LMar said, the scroll doesn't work on the inspiration. The one time when there is any notable XP made from crafting, is when you turn in the crafting and master writs, because they are quests that are being completed, and those reward with XP.

Nope, xp is separate. Crafting uses "inspiration".

Best time to use an xp scroll is during a double xp event.

I second the people saying to wait for a double XP event, and use them for CP. Especially if you aren't CP160 yet. From CP160 all the gear you find will be max level, so that's the point you can start building your "end game" character. And CP level is account wide, so any alts you level to 50 from now on will be the same CP as your main, and you can earn account wide CP with any of them.

    My tactic:
    1. Wait for double XP event
    2. Pop an XP scroll since they stack with the XP event
    3. Join the Alik'r Dolmen zerg until my XP scrolls expires

I hate the Alik'r dolmen grind. It's boring af. But the XP gain is undeniable, especially when you've got a total of 150% or more bonus XP coming in. And using an XP scroll while doing it gives you a timer, so you're counting down to the point where you can finally go do something else

Yep, same with me. The levels fly by until I get to the 40's.
And yes I know it has everything to do with more xp needed to move that bar, which is why using xp scrolls in the 40's makes perfect sense to me.

For players < 50 & CP 160 they are quite useful because they help you reach the top gear tier faster. Also for cross-platform/multi-account players who know how to play and wanna get to CP cap faster. But for CP160+ but still new players is actually better going without since learning the game should go hand in hand with gaining CP.

You gain CP fast enough to reach the CP cap in 3-4 months w/o XP boosts and grinding if you play content. Ex. at CP160 you can start doing vet base game dungeons, normal Craglorn trials, at CP300 you can start doing vet DLC dungeons, vet Craglorn trials, normal DLC trials and vMA. Those give plenty of XP. Save only the DLC veteran trials for CP500+ and run those only with good people, prefferably guild mates.

I've seen way too many clueless max CP players that grinded their way there bring carried in Skyreach or endlessly clearing hordes of zombies & dolmens in Alik'r. You'll see them struggling to kill tmobs overland and getting rekt in the trash pull from a normal dungeon. They ended up like that because they grinded an failed at L2P.
