No Nirncrux from nodes in Craglorn

I've gathered a LOT of crafting nodes of all types in Craglorn today as I've been questing and not seen a single Nirncrux, potent or fortified.
I only remember seeing nirncrux in Craglorn from survey nodes even in the last month.

I'm starting to think Nirncrux isn't being assigned to any nodes and this is broken.

It's just RNG. You hit a bad streak today. It's still there. I got a few yesterday.

No, I waited a LONNNNNNGGGG time to post this.
    I haven't seen a single one.

This is beyond bad RNG. I almost think somebody is going around taking just the "good stuff" from crafting nodes, but they left jewelry nodes and left kuta in enchanting nodes, if that were the case, and they would have to have been everywhere I was and nobody else emptying the nodes.

Something is definitely not right. Either the drop rate is insanely lower than intended even or they are not dropping at all, either way needs to be investigated and can easily be done so by the developers.

This is happening to me, too. I had a fair supply of nirncrux from previous visits to Craglorn, but have used up almost all of it for weapons; still have some left for armor. So about a week ago I went back to spend time in Craglorn and haven't found a single piece in all that time. I didn't think about the possibility that someone is taking just the nirncrux and leaving the normal mats, but that seems like a likely explanation-- except that even after I take everything and the nodes respawn, there's still never any nirncrux. :(
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Finally got ONE nirncrux after many hours.
So, they're not completely broken, but the drop rate is much lower than it was even and should be. I probably went through 500+ nodes before finding one which was luckily potent, the one I'm after. That's still abysmally low.

I have travelled behind many players lately, that are doing exactly what you fear.... they are taking the nirncrux and leaving the mats...

I guess they either don't have summerset or can't add that to their farming program for some reason - cos they didn't take any enchantment runes that I saw...

    EDIT:

I actively watched them doing this...

I hate PVP in my PVE soup...

I wish the node would at least just despawn/respawn 5-10 seconds, max, after they fail to take everything out of it, treasure chests too but with a 20-30 second timer.
Nothing upsets me more about going after chests or nodes to find something I am looking for almost completely empty aside from "bronze"(used to be copper) or "mundane runes". That's just worthless to me.
It's even worse for the nodes that somehow manage to stay on the ground completely empty. They tend to have no glow for the keen eye passive also, in my experience, but you need to clear them for another node to spawn.

The code for crafting nodes in this game is ridiculously aggravating.

500 nodes is not even remotely close to a viable sample size for something with a 2% drop rate at best. When you said you were farming a lot, I assumed you meant thousands of nodes. Even then, the sample size is only borderline useful.

What redspecter said, your sample is far too low. At the drop rates of Nirncrux it is perfectly possible (and given enough time, even unavoidable) to go 10 hours of non-stop farming without seeing a single drop. I'm speaking from personal experience.

FWIW I got 2 potent and 4-6 fortified in the past 2 days (pre-patch) in maybe 2 hours of Craglorn farming.

I got a Nirncrux from a Ore node yesterday. I was in Craglorn getting a couple of writ maps done and was picking up mat nodes along the way. They are dropping but cannot tell from my time there what the drop rate is.

The drop rate of Nirncrux from One Tamriel is 1 in 200 nodes, with 1 in 4 being a potent nirncrux.

With a small sample size and RNG, yeah, its going to be difficult to quantify.

    2% drop rate so 2 in 100 so I should have seen 10 and I saw 1.

FYI, my estimate is low because I know I was doing it a long time, but I didn't count them. I was trying to be conservative given how many I was seeing all over the place that I just hoovered-up.

These really should be higher drop rate though if they want us to choose traits based on what we like and what we want to use and experiment with rather than just going with the easiest or assuming it is the best based on rarity.

It's like they're designing the game to support bot farmers economy, like some twisted stock market, rather than actual paying playing customers and their economy also.

Its a 1 in 200 drop rate, with 1 in 4 being potent nirncrux, not a 2% drop rate. So you could have expected to get 2 out of 500 nodes but perhaps RNG was just not in your favor.

Be glad its not pre-One Tamriel, when the drop rate was 1 in 400 nodes. (And I still found plenty of nirncrux). They changed the drop rate when they opened Craglorn up to everyone with One Tamriel, doubling the drop rate.

So you aren't bugged, just a touch unlucky.

    Do remember these tips:
    • Potent & Fortified Nirncrux only drops in the north part of craglorn.
    • Nirncrux can drop from any node, (yes even enemies possessing rubedo hide such as welwa’s.)
    • As the others have explained, chances of finding Nirncrux are practically slim.

If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

Nirncrux drops in all of Craglorn now. It was changed like 2 years ago. It doesn't drop from any node. It drops from ore, cloth, wood, seams and it will very occasionally drop from mobs that give leather. It will not drop from flowers, mushrooms, runestones or water nodes.

[*] Potent & Fortified Nirncrux only drops in the north part of craglorn.

Not correct. This may have been true in the far past but for the past 9 months at least both nirncruxes can drop anywhere in Craglorn.

[*] Nirncrux can drop from any node, (yes even enemies possessing rubedo hide such as welwa’s.)

Not correct, Nirncrux does not drop from alchemy and enchanting nodes, only from nodes that drop 'gear' materials (cloth, metal, wood, and now also jewelry nodes). You are correct about the rubedo hide mobs though, welwas and even the 1 shot pigs can drop it.

Edited to add mention of jewelry nodes.

Now this is helpful information. My node totals were from all types of nodes.

Just another piece of information that they have hidden very well because they won't put any easy to search database on game info or a wiki that is company supported. I really miss that from Guild Wars and City of Heroes where they actually did that.

I was there for an hour roughly, on 2 different days. 5 Fortified, 3 Potent. They are there.

Yep, got 3 potent on one 'run' and none on the next one. RNG is what it is... well, random.

... and it will very occasionally drop from mobs that give leather.

This. In addition contrary to popular belief, potent will drop from clothing nodes/mobs. I've got the pics/video to prove it somewhere. Also in my small sample size I've been satisfied with the nirn drop rate from the (mini)bosses that drop leather in the dungeons as well.

That may be the best bet. Nobody can steal those from me before I even get to the node because you can't loot living enemies.

Any idea where the most leather dropping enemies can be farmed? Does leather drop from werewolves that are in some of the delves?

I used to farm it a lot.. I had days where I would get 15 in a day and other times I would go days without seeing 1.. I'm talking like 10 hours a day just farming.. The 2 in 100 drop rate does not mean the nodes you pick up it means ALL the nodes scattered across Craglorn. You were just not lucky enough to pick up the right nodes!

I still run a loop when I get surveys and have to go in there and still pick up a few a day just doing one or two loops. They are working fine. Just a dry spell for you it happens.

And Nirncrux has been dropping in all of craglorn for as long as I have been playing which is at least a couple years.
