disappearance of wayshrines

silvermistktralasub17_ESO
mind you, this has been going on for more than a year, but I've finally had enough wit the fact that I get just out of sight of a wayshrine, and it drops from my compass. I'm close enough that I should be able to find it, but many times I can't figure out where the stupid wayshrine is to get out of an area. This is intermittent, but it shouldn't be happening. Not all wayshrines are affected but some of the ones in craglorn and at least the wyrd tree one in Glenumbra are almost always affected. This is ridiculous. The wayshrines shouldn't vanish from our compasses. Any ideas what's wrong, and how to fix it?

in my experience, they tend to drop off the compass when i get too close. it seems like i need to be some distance away for it to show on the compass. if i couldn't check the map i'd just move in a straight line until it reappeared on the compass.

is this a difference between PC and console?

not sure. I'm on pc. I also am actually out of sight of the wayshrines when they vanish, but only just out of sight.

I have this happen alot on many different maps.

I noticed it first in Wrothgar.

Either from far far away or very close by, I can actually look up and see the wayshrine with my eyes on the screen but my compass has no icon for it at all.

All wayshrines, as far as I have seen, will not show on your compass if you ported to them. It seems that the developers assume you will always know where the wayshrine you came from is.

This will only change if you go so far away from the wayshrine, but I'm unsure what that distance is. Sometimes, I think it may require going to another map marker area or being within the resurrection range of another wayshrine, like when you are defeated and it says "revive at nearest wayshrine" and it would go to a different one.

This was not always the case though. I'm unsure when it changed to have the wayshrine you just came from removed from the compass, but I'm pretty sure it happened the same time they stopped the quest option "show on map" from going to the correct zone and instead showing you a random doorway out of your current zone as if that was helpful(it's not).
Both are stupid annoying unhelpful horrible features.

This happens for me with just about anything: quest objectives,add-on mage lore book and skyshard indicators, dolmens... I'm on PC. I wish this would get some kind of a fix, especially when wayshrines don't look typical like in Coldharbor.

Oh, I didn't notice this at all. I always look at the map and kind of memorized the layout of many areas.

damn here I thought its a post of someone who actually wants complete removal of wayshrines outside of main cities...
  • silvermistktralasub17_ESO
actually, there's a secondary problem that might be related, too. If I place a marker on my map (the blue diamond thingy) before I transition between areas, I usually have to check to make sure that it didn't get moved during transition. I don't know how many times I've transitioned to a place, started following my pre-set map marker, and found that it was heading someplace completely different than I'd wanted it to go.

I can confirm this happens to me too.

I will keep it in mind for the future and check back in here to update which wayshrines I notice it on.
