Its says crystal frag is the "ill-advised" morph and lists crystal blast as the correct build morph

I believe it also says the clannfear is the suggested morph rather than the scamp.

I personally turn it off and ignore it. It's mostly aimed for the beginners in the game if I recall correctly to help them get started. I can see how this causes confusion end game though since the free cast from frag. and the aoe burst from the scamp is far better.

The advisor is ironically a trap designed to give you POOR advice, lol. Trust your gut on the ability and morph options - the vast majority of abilities only have 1 viable morph anyway.

The level up assistant is great for new players who know very little, or nothing about how the game and builds work. After learning the mechanics a player will often be able to make a better choice for themselves, than what is advised by the level up assistant.

Overall, depending on how you play the optimal morph is often what works best for you based on what you are building. There are many morphs that are almost always recommended, these forums are a fantastic resource for that information.

I'd like to watch a developer run of some vDLC stuff, only using level up advisor builds ;)

You don't think the devs actually play the dang game, do you?
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

Im pretty sure, as others have stated it's mostly designed for people who are brand new to the game.
Looking at the sorc dps one (From what I remember) it's mostly built on survival, since the clannfear heals you. Once you become comfortable with the class, then that's when you can use your gut on the morphs. For example the whole pet thing. As a dps you'd want the scamp. As a tank (if you are running a tank pet build) the clanfear would help there.

A lot of the skills are in better light once you have played the class long enough and know the ins and outs of it.

I doubt any newbie levelling builds are also good for vet DLC content. You could say the same about player-made ones.

I tested several newbie character builds using Level Up advisor on PTS when it first came out, using only picked up equipment and no CP allocation. I think the Level Up advisor stops giving good advice at about level 5 when it fails to suggest you take any weapon skills. If you follow the advice faithfully then, at about level 25, when the level balancing adjustment starts to be reduced, you end up with a character that genuinely struggles to survive against ordinary overground 3 man trash mob groups.

IMHO it's best to just turn it off.

You should choose the build you want from the advisor. I think the blast is advised for the levelling up build. If you choose magicka dps i think it advises you to go for frags

It's an Assistant & it's better than nothing (that preceded it for 4 years)
but it could still use input from players & up dating every 90 days

    Hell no!

Some vetting needs to happen, & that includes ZOS' suggested builds

Honestly, I like the level up advisor. Played for almost a year before it came out and despite finding all kinds of builds never found anything that I could actually work with while leveling the characters. The advisor is good for that. Also, it only suggest 3 skills at each level up but all skills for that build are highlighted so one can easily find out what weapon will be suggested and start leveling that from the beginning. You don't have to gimp yourself by just picking one of the 3 suggested skills. You can 'skip ahead' and pick other things that are part of the build and available.
