So i have reinstalled eso about three times, used repair, ran eso as an admin, and changed "RequestedNumThreads " to 0 as previously advised in some other forms, yet my play button within the launcher still grays out on me. Can anyone help me please?

    Hey,

Im having the same issue, though what im going to post next doesnt work for me, it might work for you! I read this off these forums and it works for some people.

    go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client

then try to run the game by opening eso.exe.

    Hope this helps.

I've tried that as well but still nothing. I thought they would have fixed this issue from beta. could just be my comp though.

What firewall/antivirus are you running? Have you attempted to run the game with them turned off?

An easier way to do that would be booting your PC into selective start up mode. This will turn off the startup programs, and most of the services that the computer doesn't need to run. Let's give the following a try:

    1) Click Start, and type msconfig on the search box
    2) Right click on the msconfig.exe program and choose Run as administrator
    3) To place your computer into selective start up:
    a. On the General Tab at the top, click on the Selective startup radio button
    b. Uncheck "Load startup items"
    4) Click on the Services tab at the top
    a. On the Services tab check the Hide all Microsoft services check box at the bottom
    5) Click the Disable all button at the bottom
    6) Click Apply, then click OK
    7) Restart your computer

When your computer comes up you will be in Selective start up. Try the game again, and see if you have different results.

Updating your graphics card drivers and/or the DirectX Runtime Library has been know to help in some cases. It's worth a try if you haven't already.

So if the play button isn't working.....that means normally you have either a flash driver or direct x driver or C++ driver issue. one or all three of those are either corrupted, out of date or missing components most likely.

In a rare case this could also be a result of trying to disable some of the windows media player functions....in this case you might have turned off drivers by accident.

Another rare case can be that you might have gotten super paranoid with internet explorer(as in want firefox only or chrome only) or certain programs running in the background(i.e. you found some weird named something running...looked it up and believed someone who said turn that off because it uses a whopping 2k of resources that are not needed for anything else) and you decided to turn off some services or dlls that you actually should not have turned off.

I mention these rare cases because in other forums for other games....people seam to do things like this which causes their issues.

Also one thing you might try.....and this will sound weird....but its possible if you are like me and leave your machine on all the time....you might simply have to just restart your computer....the reason for this is that you got some stealth update that should have restarted your machine...but it didn't...thus now you are getting errors related to that.
