How many Jewelry Crafting Books have you found?

On my main I totally ignored the books, no time those days to look around for that.

A second character got 2 skills books for the last levels.

To answer OP question both books were in Summerset.

I am now taking regularly two last jewelry crafting levels with books. The route is:
Simmerene: Monastery, Kinlady's house, Inn, Mages Guild.
    Alinor: Mages Guild
and i usually have both. Repeated by now about ten times.

Traitor's Vault (in Artaeum) has been last resort on few cases when even after Alinor a book was missing.

Few times i have tried other locations and it feels that the books can be everywhere and often. Summerset is full of bookshelves.

I've been doing the final two levels with books as well. It's a lot simpler for me, though. I first visit the Augury Basin for the guaranteed spawn of one of the books. And then just go in and out of the Shimmerene monastery. Since that is a separate zone, each time you enter/exit it, it will reset all of the bookshelves. Though I did make a few MG/manor runs too, but the monastery loop seems a bit faster.
Oh, i thought the bookshelves stay the same. I try this next time, thanks!
I tried and yes, the monastery bookshelves change every time. I won't even bother with the Augury Basin. I'll just use the Simmerene Monastery from now on, and re-enter it until i get the two books.

I think there are 5 for evey skill except jewelry which has 2.

Almost. For some reason, Restoration Staff skill books got lumped in with Destro Staff. So there are 10 Destro and 0 Resto Skill Books. Unless they changed something in the past year....

But as far as I can tell, there are only two JC Skill Books, of which I have found one.

Noob here. Does that really make a difference? In leveling skills I mean. What is the advantage of waiting to read books and get skill points at a higher level than just when you find them wherever?

Inspiration per deconstructed item is constant, but the needed inspiration increases from one level to the next. For example from level 15 to level 16 you need to deconstruct fewer jewels than between level 43 to 44. Books give one level regardless of the current level of your skill. So you'll save more time & items if you use the books at higher levels. Ideally level to 48 deconstructing then go read the books to 50.

For the most part this true. However, when working with items that are higher level there is a cap effect on inspiration. So as you go up in level, the amount of inspiration you can recieve goes up. So, while the amouny of items deconned per level can go up, it is not as.much as it would be if this cap was not in place.

However, all that being said, crafting skill books give the most bang in the levels between 40 and 50.

Someone in my guild said he found 25 by going to a mages guild and logging in and out. I tried this but had no luck so far

No, it is not 25. You can check in your journal how many there are. I thought I saw I had 4/5, but others are saying 2, so maybe I was looking at the wrong thing. It is possible they are talking about all the skill books they found, or that they are double counting.

I have done the mages guild re-log on alts before to get all the books. I was really just going for the crafting books because they were all doing writs while not yet being leveled.

I have always suspected that there was a cap to books you can find per zone. At least before One Tamriel. When I would park an alt in the Daggerfall Mages Guild, they would eventually stop finding skill books. When I would go to a higher level zone, I would immediately start finding skill books again. I haven't tried this again post-One Tamriel. It is also possible that they tied the book finding to your character level, since zones were also leveled back then.

It's entirely possible to find 25 skill books overall if you're on a new character, but there are only 2 for jewelry crafting, as opposed to 5 for every other skill. I think there are 83 or 85 in the game overall.
