Immersive Until Buggy

Magus_Seraphelle
This game is so dang pretty and deep, but I am really struggling to stay immersed. When I start a quest line, I generally want to follow it to its completion (or partial completion within the area, depending on its extensiveness). I get thrown out of my immersion, like jumping out of a speeding car, when a bug halts this progress, and it really ruins my experience. Honestly, I am mainly upset that I spent extra money for an incomplete game, despite its beauty.

I love this game. I really do, so please fix the bugs. (ASAP)

I'm going to have to agree with this. I played for several hours yesterday through Aldmeri Dominion content to reach level 9 and experienced 6 bugs that either slowed down or shut down quest progression. In 4 of these cases, I simply logged on to a different instance (sometimes several times) and was able to continue. For 2 of these quests the bug was persistent and I still could cannot complete them.

I used the online bug reporting tool but it specifically says that I should not expect a response. How about a fix?

Interestingly, I played through the exact same quest lines in beta and did not experience these bugs. In fact, I experienced LESS bugs in beta. Given the that the beta period was so long and extensive, it's amazing to me that so many of these bugs still exist. I hope it is not an impending sign of future quality control issues. There is nothing that will make an MMO tank faster, especially a subsciption-based one.

The problem with quest bugs specifically is that it makes immersion IMPOSSIBLE, because it throws a wrench in game mechanics, unlike a clipping error or rendering problem (of which there seem to be VERY few).

Personally, I think that fixing these questing bugs should be priority number one for Zenimax/Bethesda. The more subscribers experience this, the less subscribers there will be.

I have participated in the last 3 beta tests and is currently waiting for my 3-day early access to begin tomorrow.
For each patch note, Zenimax claimed that they found the source of the quest bugs (NPC/quest items not respawning) and have fixed thousands of bugs. Yet for each beta session (with new build) I experienced new bugs or even EXISTING bugs from the previous beta session. And those new bugs were just the same kind of bugs that had appeared and (thankfully) fixed. The patch note of 1.0, which is the official realise build, again emphisized how they have progressed in bugfixing. However all these feedbacks from online communities upset me really bad.
The game itself, the world, the concept of gaming are truly spectacular. The only thing that made me hesitate to buy this game was the bugs. Now I can only wait and login and see how bad it would be.
It would be a huge shame if this game is destroyed by these stupid bugs.

If you come upon a bug I think you can still report it to the developers diretly using the /bug command. Just hit 'enter' like you were about to say something, type /bug and hit enter. A bug submission form will pop up and you can describe in full detail what went wrongly.

Reporting bugs is the best thing one can do the ensure [their] destruction.

I don't start my early access until tomorrow, but judging the past 3 betas, ESO has not suffered as bad as STO or SWTOR did (let alone older MMOs back in the day).

Are bugs annoying? Yes. But you should always assume the first few months / first year will be the timeframe for an MMO to get its footing, etc.

If you expect perfection, you will find flaws everywhere.

Only 6 bugs? That quite a significant improvement to what I experienced in beta. I am happy to hear this. In time and some work, they will be ironed out

I've made it to level 11 with no quest bugs, so better than beta for me.

I have been reporting every bug I encounter. I am just frustrated with my immersion getting broken.

I have been having an amazingly bug free questing adventure with my Khajiit thru to level 8. Some of the quest bugs I encountered in Beta were worked around...sometimes not as smoothly as I would have liked but still was able to get the end quest finish reward. There are some quirky things that still happen but I have been pleased so far for a massive new game opening.

Queen quest with northern priestess, mobs failing to spawn even after re-log (Entila's Folly, I think), Illuvar Dolmen anchor, Frozen Man chest not working (Ebonheart Pact Quest on alt) plus others. There are more for me than in beta. :< I only had like 2 in the most recent test.

A lot of the bugs people experience are because the quest becomes overload due to too many people trying to do it at once. I've encountered this twice now, once doing the quest for Queen Aeryn with her two priestesses, and once with the pirate ship in Haven - incidentally both are events which are supposed to take time to complete (escorting and eves dropping). Best thing to do I've found is to report and come back later when there is less people around, it will most likely be working again then. That or try and convince people to leave the quest area for a little while to let it sort itself out.

Only other quests I've found that were bugged were also in Auridon, Rightful Inheritance (one of the guards wasn't there), and some Captain down in.. Green.. something... that wasn't spawned in the server phase/shard I was on (but relogging fixed that - put me in a different phase/shard).

I agree this is the best mmo (BY FAR) and competes with the best single player games I have ever played (all elder scrolls) but the quest bugs are really tearing away the experience for me... I just have to walk away and vent some times :( I love this game so much and if it weren't for that problem it would be perfect for me

I have not experienced as many bugs as I have in beta. I think the game is great and the quests themselves I don't believe are broken. What is broken is the server phasing. This is why the quests generally run smoother with less people or why logging out and back in sometimes fixes the problem. I've played the game and sometimes have had a bug free experience and then other times I run into a situation where a quest isn't even able to be completed. I think if they can resolve the server phasing issue then that will eliminate a good majority of these issues.

Every Game Has BUGs and ESO is still new. It is also MASSIVE. I came in with the complete knowledge that there would be bugs... I mean, name one MMO without bugs. As the game is played, and the issues are seen, the bugs will subside and the immersiveness of the game will be where it should be. Love the game for what it is now and know it will get better.

QFT it just sucks because this is the first mmo i have ever played where I actually cared about the quests and wanted to see what happens next. I didn't even give a *** in swtor.

i must be one of the lucky ones, have completed well over 50 quests so far through Aldmeri Dominion, with only 2 bugged quests (level 17 now). really having zero issues with the game..far different from the beta.

unless you were on the PTS server. the last 3 or 4 beta events were the same build of the game. they were mainly stress tests of the server. the people on the PTS server are the ones would kept testing the new builds through the last few beta events. Thats why you kept experiencing the same bugs in beta

I'm finding the experience is getting buggier the higher I level.

Seems 50% of the quests in Grahtwood have huge numbers of people waiting for a final boss to spawn while they log in and out.

'The Blacksap's Hold' quest just teleports you to an underground room where your supposed to talk to someone and they don't appear. So that's an entire quest chain I can't even start.

Twice tonight quest steps didn't trigger or just got stuck and I had to abandon and start again. I also got stuck in a walking animation at one point which wouldn't go away even with a relog (only death or /stuck work).

Its a shame, I'm enjoying the game when I don't have problems but the bugs are becoming a serious annoyance and distraction.
