Stop Auto Log Out

Or at least set it up to a 1hr timer for both character creation screen and in game. I have played dozens of LARGE PLAYERBASE mmorpg's with no auto log out at all and they have no server lag/loading issues. Stop punishing me for the server and load problems. Auto log out does not save anything. It is just annoying.

I hate getting logged out in the middle of character creation. It takes me forever to make a character 'just right' to where I like them, and then getting logged out when I look away from the screen for one minute to look up a good name because the one I want is taken is so annoying. "Oh, so there's 45min down the drain."

Nah, it is fine the way it is. If you need to go AFK for an hour or more then you should not be logged in any way. They should focus on real issues. This does not even rate in the top 100 of things that should be tweaked.

I always enjoyed in FFXIV you can stay logged in literally forever. Except for maintenance, you could stay logged into your character until the game shuts down for good.
Its fun and helpful, but I suspect the quick auto log in ESO is to do with the megaserver business

Character creation I agree with mostly because many people like to fine tune their characters and as said above if the name you wanted is taken it can take some time to come up with a new one.

In game though 20 minutes is more than enough time for afking.

It is kind of annoying. I often get logged out right as I am reaching for my controller or mouse like the game knows when to troll me. lol

Yeah this is a terrible idea.

If it was added you could equip thunderbug, beekeeper and something like stormfist, then just leave you character where mobs spawn and let the xp roll in.

Mobs spawn, attack you triggering bug and stormfist, but not doing enough damage to counter your beekeeper health regeneration. Mob dies you get xp.

Bad bad idea.

It feels as though the log out time while in-game is reasonable, or at least I've never had a problem taking a needed AFK and getting back before I was booted. But please increase the timer during character selection/creation, because it's WAY too short. Getting booted at character selection? All the time. Never, ever go AFK- even for just one minute- on the character select screen. Getting booted during character creation? Yep. Just had that happen, and I don't believe it was even a whole minute. That one was incredibly frustrating. WHY have short timers in character selection/creation? Why have timers at ALL for that?

if you have to afk during character creation, take screenshots of all the sliders. Scroll up and down to get them all in 6 shots. I do this anyway in case I want to make changes afterwards.

Being able to save a character creation in progress might be a good idea... so you can come back to it later and finish it.

Technically you can do this. I won't explain how because there is no need to stay logged in

I agree with this 100%!

Even with a list of names, its very possable all are used. Ton of players.

I must admit, I experienced both problems myself:

Not having any name and getting a timeout while thinking one.
Starting the creation of a character with a name ready, just to find out it was taken already.

There are several solutions here:

User name and surname. Maybe lore based. Many people end up using strange characters. Careful, cos some recent thread shows this can create problems in-game.
ZOS could implement some kind of auto generate names, which does the previous point.

That said, I know that you have a limited number of characters yo ucan delete within a time window. But often before creating a new character, I try it out, since what you see in the menu is not what you will see in-game. I take notes of the slides and give it a whatever name. If I like the character , I then think about some proper name and creating it is a matter of seconds.

Where does one "look up a good name"?

Oh how I know that feeling...

I'm fine with game taking me out of Tamriel if idle, but our characters should have longer waiting period. Much longer. I'm surprised Fortnite grants you all the time in the world in the character screen (infinite), but it shows it's possible.

Why is this good? Because I work in other tasks. If anyone is using their PC to do the work or other stuff, having the game ready in the background for leisure time is a bonus.

Lol could you imagine no auto log? Cyro and public dungeons would be packed full of afk'ers leaching xp/ap! Bleakers would be a packed wall to wall. Would be so much worse than bots.

I do agree though that character creation screen needs no limitation, I have been logged out while active and playing with sliders.

Well, if you notices, sometimes you see someone running in circles for half an hour...not hard to implement some form of AFK.

I would like the timer to be not random. Sometimes I get logged out in five minutes, sometimes an hour? Like as an RPer if you are waiting for post replies, and you are there, scrolling through chat it still logs you. You have to jump, move around, which breaks immersion for RPers. An hour is good or let people set their timers. Don't log me out randomly.
