Introductory for cyrodiil, alliance wars, and battlegrounds?

I know there is more to these areas to learn about but I want to ask a few questions to get me started on the right direction. I entered cyrodiil for first time and did the introductory quests. What is the next step? How exactly do you begin as a new player? So many different way shrines and I don’t understand the quests in blue marker. I picked one up and it said kill 20 sorcerers for a reward so I abandoned it until I get the mechanics right. How do I begin at entering for a beginner in cyrodiil.

Next. Under the dungeon finder tab. What is alliance wars option for? And what is the battlegrounds option for? I can’t access the alliance war ( says must be in Ava location ) but I can que an area for battlegrounds.

Where should they begin so I don’t fall off track? Not sure how to enter for a beginner in cyrodiil.

You enter cyrodiil from the alliance war tab. You can bring up the menu by pressing "L". You can make a campaign your home and then enter it through that menu.

Once you're in cyrodiil type "looking for group" in zone chat and hopefully someone will invite you, people tend to want their groups to be as big as possible so there's a solid chance you'll get picked up. If you can't find a group just look for multicolored crossed swords on the map and go there, the swords represent active battles.

There's transportation stones at the starting area and in each of the keeps (the castle icons in your map), clicking on the stone will open open the map and let you teleport to any keep your faction controls. This is how you're gonna get from place to place mostly.

Once you've gotten to a battle just stick to the largest group of allied players just follow them around and heal them or attack any enemies that they're attacking. You get pvp rewards (tied to currency called alliance points) from participating in battles where a keep is assaulted or defended, or in being nearby when an enemy is killed. So just being in battles is rewarded even if you aren't contributing as much as someone else.

This is just the super basics, once you get a feel for PVP you can start running off by yourself and looking for small scale fights.

Here's one of the best guides for Cyrodiil, in my opinion: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/360956/joy-s-advice-for-midyear-mayhem-event

As far as just getting started in Cyrodiil goes, you can look for a group (Typing LFG in zone chat is the most effective method as very few people actually use the groupfinder) or jumping into the fight. PVP has a steep learning curve, so I recommend sticking close to other players on your alliance whenever possible when you are learning even if you aren't in a group.

To get to the fight, you'll need to transit between keeps. Go to the transitus shrines and as long as there is a solid line connecting two keeps in your alliance's color, you can transit there. Generally the keeps closest to enemy keeps will have more fights going on. Alternatively, you can watch zone chat to see your alliance calling out the keeps they are attacking or defending or watch your map for areas where crossed swords show up to show there is fighting in that area.

If you can't transit to a keep, you'll need to ride there. Feeding your horse for speed upgrades will help as will using the Rapid Maunevers skill in the Assault skill line.

Basically the goal of Cyrodiil is to team up with allies to capture enemy keeps and resources or defend your own. Those blue quests are things like kill enemies or capture enemy objectives that you can do as you play. When you want to leave, you need to go back to your home gate and use the wayshrines, not the transitus.

For Battlegrounds, those are a No CP 4v4v4 fight with different objectives. There's the deathmatch style, capture the flag, and land control matches. I strongly recommend talking to Battlemaster Rivkyn (he'll be in the BG areas in the alliance starter cities, Vivec, Alinor, or by the arena in Vvardenfell) or looking up the types of BGs in the help menu so you know what to expect from the different types of objectives -I was horribly confused my first couple Battlegrounds. They can be a lot of fast-paced fun, but don't be afraid of dying a lot.

There's a reward for doing a daily random battleground and placing 1st or 2nd as a team, that's been a good way for me to get my feet wet in Battlegrounds and its good exp.

Great community on this site. Very insightful, now I’m going to experiment with this information before I ask too much but are siege weapons available all over a pvp battle or each player gets one ? And I assume battlegrounds doesn’t involve siege weapons? So battlegrounds can be entered from any area or should I que them when I’m in cyrodiil as well?

BGs can be que'd the same way dungeons are, you can que inside or outside of cyrodiil.

Battlegrounds can be a little brutal if you're not experienced at pvp though. Just a couple of solid players can turn a big into a BG into a curbstomp bloodbath. However, it's the best practice you can get for pvp combat if you're willing to jump in the deep end.

Siege weapons can be bought with AP or some with gold from siege merchants. There are siege merchants at your home gates and in the keeps/resources your alliance owns, usually by the back flag of the keep. You get AP from killing players, capturing and defending objectives. Generally, I wouldn't worry too much about siege as a new player as more experienced PVPers will run the siege. If you do want to try siege, oils are good for pouring down on attackers while defending keeps, catapults are good for defending breaches in the walls or doors, ballista and trebuchets are better for breaking down walls and doors.

You are correct that battlegrounds doesn't use siege weapons, and you can queue into Battlegrounds from anywhere (I'm not sure if you can queue into them from Cyrodiil, ive never tried)
