What is the point of the Outfit Station

When almost all costumes and armor cannot be dyed properly.. I mean a very large chunk of costumes and armors either cannot be dyed in certain places or worse cannot be dyed the color it says it is..

Take this new reed kilt costume i got from a crown crate.. every color i dye it either goes black or brownish.. blues yellows reds some greens all don't do their colors.. Why have a dye system that just doesn't work on nearly all the costumes and clothing..

Either something is broken with the costumes etc or the dye system is horribly bugged...

Just out of curiosity did you try a crown dye on the offending costume?

I think it is worse, it appears to be designed intentionally to not let colors dye true to what you'd expect. It's definitely not how I want it to perform.

Outfits not displaying correct colors, or selecting no outfit and seeing colors/motifs that are wrong is a new bug that came up in yesterday's patch.

Some items not having spots you can color has ALWAYS existed. It's rare, but can come up with shoulders, feet, and gloves. This has ALWAYS been the case.

The "point" of the outfit system is for fashionable people. People like me would be forced to re-craft items in a new motif look if we wanted to change the look. In recent years that's about a 100k investment for EACH item if you are talking about getting them to yellow rarity (on PC). So, the outfit station was primarily designed to prevent that. You have a new motif and want to change the look of an item without changing the item itself, boom, changed. This also allows dropped sets to have their look changed.

However, for people like me this doesn't really help, as I have 3-4 full sets, and I will sometimes hybrid between them. Seeing the visual change is the only way I remember what I'm wearing or to quickly see if I'm in the 'right set' for the role I'm doing. Since they can be mixed and matched, I'd need like 10 outfit options, which is not realistic. Honestly I'd have preferred a re-design station, where you could permanently change the motif look of an item. (Much like the Transmute station for traits.)

Real talk: what is it actually for?

It showed up during my hiatus so I thought it was supposed to be an easy way to swap between gear sets, but nope. What is it really for? Just for changing color schemes at the place where you were already at to change your color scheme? Bizarre.

It's a completely new system. The original dye station functionality works, but you also have the option of creating, for gold, something called an "outfit" which is basically any combination of armor and weapon looks you want to replace the look of your gear. It's not tied to the gear itself, it's a separate thing altogether, so you can keep looking how you want even if you have to change what you're wearing mid-day.

You can use any motif that any of your characters know, and can use light, medium, and heavy armor in any combination, no matter what armor weight your actual gear is. You can change your weapons and shield to be anything of their type. Thus, staves always look like staves and bows always look like bows (but can be any motif you know), while you can change your two-handed and one-handed melee weapons to be any two-handed and one-handed melee weapons. So if you hate greatswords but use them for the 2-handed passive effect then you can instead make it look like a battleaxe or a warhammer, or change your double dagger setup to look like dual maces, etc.

You can also use it to dye weapons, so that's great.

But as I said before, it unfortunately costs gold to use. Different motifs cost a different amount to use and there's no rhyme or reason to how expensive a particular motif is. So choose wisely, don't mess up, and don't get it in your head that you'll get to change often.

This issue has been around long before this patch.. The outfit1 not being removed is a new issue this patch.. The dye issue has been around since before summerset..

The point behind the station is so we have the opportunity to wear whatever we want, and not be limited to the style our gear comes in by default. I can get over the fact many pieces don't dye all to well, I just love how I can wear what I want to wear regardless of gear sets currently equipped.

Which i understand completely if it worked right, but honestly why make a dye color that actually goes a completely different color.. Its really stupid tbh..

The outfit stations point is to mix and match different styles of armour to create a unique outfit. It's not solely for dying. It's to create an outfit. Hence the name.

Have you tried reds and yellows, greens or whites? and mix colors... it doesn't mix very well.

Because i don't currently have that blue.
