New player , question about does anyone do PVP and PVE characters only ?

Greets, new player (dabbled in beta long ago but not long term) and enjoying the game for the short time have played it.

Am realizing though that I enjoy Cyro PVP quite a lot but also want to do some PVE exploring and dungeons with folks too.

Wondered if any folks have leveled through PVP only / PVE only with separate characters ?

I have multiple character created for PvP purpose and if not counting my crafters, I have only one character created for PvE purpose. (Which is my healer.)
It's funny when I think about it: I heal people in dungeons in order to kill people in Cyrodiil.

(Edited my original answer due I figured I understood the question wrong)

    Only if PvE is solo.
Gave up on PvP long ago.

If you play on CP campaigns, having separate characters for PVP and PVE is probably wise. You’ll want different CP load outs for PVP and PVE, and it costs 3000 gold a pop to respec. Also, certain race/class combos are better suited for PVE rather than PVP, and vice versa.

For those reasons, I have PVE-only characters (one of each role) and PVP-only characters (one for each form of PVP).

That's depressing. I guess the whole "play as you want" thing is out the window since everything has to be "Meta" to fit in now. Sigh...

    Appreciate the replies and info.

My example is I discovered upon hitting level 10 that I really enjoy speccing magic and running around healing and saving folks in Cyro and haven't left with that Templar now in three nights.

But I also wanted to play a sword and board tank type Templar (or DK) and get to know folks in groups in PVE and so on , but realized I bet the cost and just irritation of respeccing to go back and forth gets old at times.

Likely will now start another character and go back and forth between them and experience both in different ways.

I play my stamblade in both, use different sets though

I won’t make separate characters based on pvp/pve, i don’t have the time or patience for all the alts that would require

I main a DD so I picked a class that fits well in both (Woodelf), just swap up gear & sometimes redo CP when going into PvP.

Only thing with having 1 character for both is you'll need a lot of skill points.
@Sparr0w so I get the notification
    Xbox (EU) - l Sparrow x | CP 810+
    DD: All Mag + Stam
Heal: Templar | Sorc | NB | Warden | Necro
Tank: NB | DK | Warden
    Completions: All HM's + TTT + IR + GH
    PC (EU) - Sparrxw | CP 810+
    DD: All Mag + Stam
    Heal: Templar | Sorc
    Tank: DK | NB
    Completions: All HM's + TTT + IR + GH + GS

Think a lot of people build for just PvP or just pve you can do one on both but you'll need sets to swap out and money reallocate your CP

other folks have already mentioned it - need to have access to different gear for each (not always the case, so be sets work well for both) and, need to unlock skills for both environments...
