Dungeon bosses not responding to taunts

So I just ran a Elden Hollow I dungeon as my random dungeon of the day. When we fought the first boss I noticed that he often was immune to my taunts, making me lose aggro. Now I am someone that uses taunts somewhat more than neccessary (read, once ever 8 seconds or so), but ive ran countless of dungeons and never had this problem before. As far as I know there is no such thing as monsters getting immune to your taunts if you taunt them too often. Also I know these bosses should not be immune to taunts. It made me feel kinda useless as a tank.
Is this something new that patched that I missed, or is this indeed a bug?

Was someone else taunting the boss? That's when I usually see this issue - someone else has decided that Puncture, Inner fire, ice staff heavy attack or the tormentor set charge attack would be a good way to play in a dungeon.

Didnt really look into that. Were 2 sorcs and a templar, so dare to rule out all of those options except for ice staff.
Does it show that a boss is immune to your taunt when someone else is taunting it?

Overtaunting does not exist in this game. But a boss can only be taunted twice if done by two different persons (to avoid being able to ping-pong a boss between two players indefinitely).

If you taunt, then someone else taunts, the boss becomes immune to taunts for several seconds. If it is only you who taunts, boss stays taunted on you no matter how much you spam the taunt. So what you described is most likely the result of heavy ice staff attacks(its the most common cause) done by one of the other players.

Once someone else taunts a boss, they go into a period of taunt immunity. Usually this looks like the boss focusing one person (not the tank) but sometimes the boss will focus one person and then switch attention to someone else, depending on how effectively the first person keeps aggro or even keeps taunting. There's not really a sign so much as I am taunting fruitlessly while the boss ignores me.

I usually notice it when I have the boss taunted and then he gets pulled off of me onto someone else and that's when I start looking for the ice staff projectiles or some other taunt being used.

Some bosses don't aggro even if taunted, or even if they have aggro they still go for other players from time to time. This is simply how they are coded. If I remember correctly the first boss of Elden Hollow - orc warrior Akash gra-Mal - does indeed do that, and jumps at the other players as well. So there isn't any bug there. As for aggro, there are only 3 skills that can do it:
    - 1H+S: Puncture & morphs
    - Undaunted: Inner Fire & morphs
    - Ice staff heavy attack if Tri Focus passive is specced into.
If someone ends up stealing the aggro from the tank it's most likely the latter, as many players simply don't pay attention to the skill& passive tool tips.

The ice staff taunt isn’t widely understood for some reason. I carry a spare inferno staff on my tank to give to dps using ice staff.
The best solution, however, is to let them die.

I usually see ice staves on leveling players, who may have picked up the passive earlier for a fire or lightning staff and not realized that the ice staff taunts. They usually listen after I explain why the boss is focused on them, since most of them don't actually enjoy holding aggro.

For those who don't listen: "You taunt it, you tank it."
