Please don't make expansions for new players. Make them for your veterans. When a new expansion comes out add levels or gear requirements. Otherwise your veterans will just drift away from this beautiful game. Dungeons and raids are not enough for challenging content. I want to do the story quest with my main and with his gear and build. And so do many others.

You could raise the level cap to over 9000, and you would still hit just as hard as you do now after you re-farm all of your gear. What needs to happen is enemy scaling based around used CP. If it's too hard, use less CP, otherwise, just use all CP, and enjoy the challenge. An alternative to that would be to simply raise the health of all enemies in OW.

Yeah the whole WoW system of re-farm all your gear after a new expansion drops was never fun. It won't be fun here. Gear treadmill = worst idea ever.

That being said, I do agree that the game loses all challenge after CP 160. And at max CP is a faceroll in almost all aspects. They should scale content to match CP better or limit CP accessibility in certain areas (dungeons? solo quests?)

All that needs to happen is the level of the mobs needs to be raised in "veteran" zones. All overland mobs are CP 160, and I believe normal dungeon mobs are a bit higher, and vet dungeon mobs are even higher than that.

In the new expansion zone, raise the level of mobs to CP 300 or something, and suddenly they take longer to kill and deal more damage. Perhaps add new mobs with unique mechanics only found in that zone, similar to what they've done to a few mobs in Summerset, and right there that's decent "veteran" overland content.

The reason I stopped playing FFXIV is that overland fights were an exhausting slog. Enemies that have more health or do more damage don't make anything HARDER. They just make fights take longer. The narrative/quest content SHOULD be easy. I don't do quests because I want a combat challenge, I do them to enjoy a story. When I want a combat challenge, I do a dungeon or trial.

Different aspects of the game are for different kinds of players or for different moods (for players like me who enjoy all of it). There are plenty of ways to reduce your own combat effectiveness if you want to take longer to kill things when questing.

The dungeon packs are for the veteran players the trails are for veteran players there is plenty of high level content being created.

The only problem is that questing is really easy... sometimes its relaxing just to wander around murderizing things.

Being able to play any overland content right out of the gate is something unique to ESO. A starting player can literally go anywhere they want (and have access to) and be successful. That's pretty special. You wanna be a thief right away? You can start the thieves guild questline and hit up Hew's Bane immediately.

And even in WoW, that didn't make zone content hard for "veteran" players. Endgame-geared & skilled people cakewalked their way through the new expansion until they hit.... the new vet dungeons and raid. Which was the 'hard' content for them.

    Hmm.

I wish we just had an option to play hard mode overland content where bashing mobs and avoiding red circles was important.

This one suggests you be careful what you wish for. Did none of you play Asheron's Call? Mobs would level up from fighting you if you did not put it down quickly enough. Dying in that game was a serious deal, as well. Die, respawn at your spawn point with no gear and no weapons. Hope you get to your body quickly enough, and of course, the mob that killed you is camping your remains. Good times indeed! Khajiit wonders if some players don't realize how good they have it.

I agree expansions should be aimed at vet players, Not to market the game again and start new players in a new zone. Summerset was a flop.

Reminds me of naked corpse runs in EQ. If you didn't get to your corpse soon enough, every thing you were wearing and carrying disappeared.

I remember when ESO was a failed MMO.

Me and all my co-gamers in other MMOs were basically either laughing at this game, crying that it had died and we'd been "forced" to go back to playing WoW or something, or comforting former ESO players.

Basically this game was getting written off by all but the "diehards" sticking it out over here.

Then One Tamriel hit, and I shrugged. I wasn't following dead MMOs after all - since I didn't bother reading much beyond a headline on some MMO news blog.

Then Morrowind hit and I was a little surprised that a dead MMO had the chutzpa to put out an expansion... So I went and tracked down some of those "is X still worth playing" videos on YouTube and learned this was being seen as the 'best and most stable MMO of 2017'...

Yeah it took me a while to piece it all together.

This game was on 'life support' before One Tamriel. It was heavily panned for extreme phasing, too split of a community divided across 3 factions. Basically being very hostile to grouping with your friends as a result of both issues.

When I first logged into the game after buying Morrowind, I found myself sitting in the expansion content - a little surprised that a 'newbie zone' was present in the expansion... Until I realized many of the people around me were veterans. The scaling was really top notch here (go play Guild Wars 2 and compare...).

And I'd wager that if you forced WoW to only count it's western players, and FFXIV to only count it's western players... ESO is likely the largest MMO in the west now.

(people estimate from 50-80% of WoW players are in the Chinese market... so everytime someone says WoW is huge, with 6-7 million... remember that if you let it count those guys, then you have to compare it against the 30+ million player MMOs that are from China, Like Perfect World, which also has western players / English localization... so it should be counted in the same pool as WoW... Remove all the Chinese players and WoW gets small... which you can kinda see if you play it. You won't see as many people around as here, and dungeon queues are 2-3 times longer there for DPS)

TL:DR - level scaling here took a 'dead' MMO and made it one of if not the top MMOs in the English language market. Don't screw with the level scaling...

People... just get over it already, OVERLAND content does not matter that much, it's there for question purposes, solo questing that is. So stop QQing and get yourself ready for real end game content... If you can't do that either try harder or just come to terms.
