Unlinking steam.

Having the game on steam and being in the EU is only a sea of problems at this point.
I want the ability to be able to take steam out of the picture. Its not because its steams fault. They work briliantly for all other games. Therefore the solution must be to remove them out of the picture.
It is possible. you do account transfers on the PTS all the time. and if theres issues with the purchases betrewn steam and ESO then that needs to solved by Zenimax when the transfer is requested.
It is after all on them that the service purchased doesnt work. I lost faith in Zenimax being able to keep a proper uptime on their game especially on the steam-side. So at this point I dont care about the troubles it would cause for Zenimax or valve for that matter. This happens waaaay too much.
We must have the option to unlink accounts. even those that were bought on steam.

Despite the issue being solved for the time being it will come back.
my point still stands. We need to be able to put steam out of the picture.

Steam is down again and still no reply.. Zenimax really. Normal steam works just fine. Normal ESO works just fine.

    Do something!

As a steam user who bought the game exactly same price like everyone, I think it is unfair that the same problem happens 3 times for steam users, which seems to happen again and again. And I can't help suffering from it, because I cannot transfer my accounts to regular account which is not steam except buying it again.

My daughter and husband would like to unlink their accounts as well. It is utter rubbish that we can't play together again just because they are stuck on Steam and I'm not.

    Dear support,
Please, I would like to go the middle road: allow ALL Steam users to be able to log-in thru secondary (direct) ESO launcher, even if the account is connected to Steam. Some older players can already use this workaround if needed.
Those who joined the game later on and cannot login (like me) are stuck, angry and vocal about it... Because to be honest, I wanted to get the daily login reward (I can't) I wanted to get the special offer daily login box (I can't), I wanted to spend my evening with friends doing trials (I can't) ...

I was about to ask the same thing. If I knew beforehand I should've bought this game out of steam I definitely would've done it.
Zenimax, let us unlink our game from steam. We're tired of this ***.

This is nice. I've owned the game about a month and this is the second time it's been demonstrated that if someone breathes on a server wrong, anyone with a steam=linked ESO account can't login.

If this keeps up i'm done. I really enjoy this game and have had ESO plus since the beginning but this is stupid.

Zen are appalling at managing this game

Are you certain the Steam login issue was a Zen issue?

There is a reason some companies choose to own their own critical infrastructure vs lease it. Their priorities are different than the companies they could lease from.

So those that chose steam chose a middle man. If there is an issue on that side their priorities might not be as prompt as Zos would like it. But you guys wanted to buy it from Steam.

Not a justification. Just stating a possible reality. The rest of us could log in to ESO yet the person I quoted seemed to blame Zos (Zen) without stating a basis (or justification) for that comment.

Ultimately we will never know, as I doubt ZOS or Steam will say what the issue is.

The reality is that it could be on either side. Could be as simple as someone keeps breaking a DNS entry for all we know.

You would think they would figured it out by now.

You are correct we will not know. Neither company will rat the other out. However, it does make clear placing a middle man into the picture when it is not necessary can be an issue. Well, it seems so at least.

no, pretty sure its in a contract the steam gets control, like so many other games, the trade off for reaching a larger audience.

steam is getting DDOS'd like usual, nothing new. be fixed in a few hours when the dns change happens

Like many of you I purchased this game through steam not knowing the mechanics of how it all works. Steam won't come forward, zen won't come forward and Bathesda doesn't seem to care about their subscribers enough to fix the issue,

I want bathesda to give every Steam user a direct copy of ESO...…. That way, we are all on a even playing field and can ALL play together

I wrote a negative review on my steam account, hoping future gamers don't make the same mistake we did and purchase the game from Steam

ZoS, why are you allergic to practicality? Clearly "looking into it" at every connectivity report is doing sweet F.A.

For once, just this once, could you please respond with "that sounds like a sensible and expedient way of solving things, sure!" instead of this impotent rug-sweeping?

If it's a question of licensing or lost equity in steam sales, just charge people the difference as an "assumed accountability transfer" or something similar. All our prior purchases are tracked under the user ID anyway, it's not like you'd have to work to verify them.

Can we log in to our ESO account and purchase base game from the store then log into our accounts? I would not mind buying the base game again but from Zenimax if I could access my toons and things I have acquired.
