So.. How rare are these variant motifs?

Like the fang lair/horned dragon ones... Or are they not in the game yet... Because it says the chapters drop from end of BG matches but ive never seen them.. At least not yet.. And if they are dropping, are they pages? or the whole book? and is there any way to increase the drop chance like winning the match or having top kills or something? Thanks all.

And even then it's a random chance to drop. I've played a couple dozen, and only got like, four?

You have a random chance at getting a motif chapter page on either a First or Second place win in a Daily Random Battlegrounds match, per Character.

This is my problem with delaying the release of motifs added to these dungeons. We are already spending time grinding them, it already takes forever to get the jewelry and the gear with the right trait we are looking for.
Why not let us get the motifs on the side while we are doing that?

I believe i read that the styles you get in BG's are Outfitting styles and not the Motif pages, at least with Scalecaller and Fanglair as ZoS has decided to wait till they are available in Crown Store FIRST before they put them in game.
Could be wrong tho, haven't done BG's yet since SSI dropped...

You get the outfit style pages (not a motif) from the daily random box for finishing first or second, they are once a day per toon.

I have had a number of them, my favourite so far has been the Fanged Worm Daggers.

Always do your randoms. They don't take long and the potential for jewellery to decon and the AP earned is well worth it.

If you have been and not getting then keep doing. Your luck will change.

Thanks for all the replys but im still a bit confused about one thing... They are "pages" not motif pages? So what they only unlock the outfit for, lets say, horned dragon head... Then i can use it in an outfit but not craft it??

But i can also get motif pages as well?? This is what im getting from everyone's posts..

The variant things drop from Battlemaster Rivyn's Reward Box. U get them somehow for battlegrounds (dunno how, never done one, never will) or u can buy them from guildtraders.
I got 3 style pages out of the 7 boxes i bought. (Last box had the one i wanted).
Those style pages can be used for outifts, but u cant craft armor from them.
Also there is a stylepage for every single "item", like heavy boots is one and light shoes is another one. So theres a total of 68 stylepages in the boxes. Dropchance seems to be around 40~50%. The styles r bop and i heard u cant get dublicates.

The motif pages for the craftable styles r not in the game yet. Someone fooked up big time and put masterwrits requiring them in instead of the "older" sets from cwc. They r supposed to drop from the dragon bones dungeons "later this or maybe next year". However, they will be in crownstore end of june.

If u want the chestmotifs from fang lair/fang worm, take care: light and medium versions of the dungeon/crownstore motifs tends to rip out your arms, the ones from pvp boxes dont.

The motifs haven't been released yet, but you can get the outfit style page drops from daily random battlegrounds rewards.

Sounds like poor planning on Zos's end. I did a battleground yesterday, first one since last year, we won and I got the Fang medium chest outfit. Why separate outfit from motifs?

Scalecaller: crafting motif which drops from the Scalecaller Peak dungeon. Chance of getting a drop increases with how hard you make the dungeon (25% normal, 50% vet, 100% hard mode). Not available in game yet. Releases in the crown store on June 27th.

The crafting motifs are the same that we've come to know and love: the character who learns it can craft armor in that style using style materials, or you can add it to any character's outfit at a cost. Presumably they drop in pages like other dungeon motifs, but that remains to be seen.

Outfit styles are a new concept, where there are no style materials for that style and you cannot craft in it. Instead, you can only apply the style to outfits at a cost. Because they're not crafting related, it doesn't matter which character you acquire the style with, and it'll still be unlocked for all of your characters. These come in single-weight pages, meaning you get the heavy head and light head separately, or the mace and maul separately.

Both crafting motifs and Battlemaster Rivyn's Reward Boxes can be traded with other players. The outfit styles are account bound.

If you queue for your daily bgs and don't come in first or second, your daily isn't consumed so you can requeue and try again. The queue will say (Daily Complete) and not offer the box anymore once that character has earned theirs for the day.

Drop rate for the outfit styles is also "smart," as in you won't receive any more Horned Dragon Swords pages after you've already acquired the page for Horned Dragon Swords. I can't confirm this, but as my drop rate seems to have declined with time, I'm guessing that the acquired drops aren't actually removed from the loot table. But I could be wrong on this.

Each Fang Lair and Dragon one has two different styles. The ones you get from BGs look a lot different than the ones that will be available soon from the crown store/dungeon motifs.

My favorite so far has to be the fang lair chest pieces. All six styles have awesome variants on what their belts hold.

There seems to be quite a few misconceptions about this. I’ll try to explain:

Fang Lair and Scalecaller motifs: will be found in their respective dungeons, they work like regular motifs. I think they’ll be available from June 27th(?).

Fang Lair and Scalecaller VARIANT STYLES: these can be found in the Battlemaster Rivyn’s Reward Boxes that drop at the end of random battleground matches if your team finishes 1st or 2nd, once a day per character. These boxes will contain one random style page with a drop chance of ~30-50% (for me so far it’s around 50
%). Some info about these:

- They look slightly different compared to regular Scalecaller / Fang Lair
- They are style pages, not motifs: they can’t be crafted, only used in the outfit system
- No duplicates will drop and they are bound to you
- Pages are separated into light/medium/heavy of all armor pieces, so the complete outfit won’t be done with 14 pages like in motifs

what do u mean rip out ur arms? and you're telling me there are master writs for motifs that arent in the game.......? and i bet zos arent trading those writs for others of equal value. Ill be PISSED if i get one.

They are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

The ones from BGs are not motifs. Totally different. The MOTIFS will come from the dungeons OR the crown store. Those will be used for the writs. The styles that come from BGs are just that - you can use them at the costume station and that's it.

The MOTIFS are not dropping yet from the two newest dungeons. They are most likely going to be released when they go for sale in the crown store on the 27th.

Seriously though, if this really, really continues to confuse anyone - go to the style tab that you can preview ALL styles/motifs (owned and otherwise) and just read where they come from.

Did you read the post I was responding to? It said the motif was dropping from Scalecaller. That is why I asked for clarification. Because if it was already dropping from Scalecaller, it would already be in the game.

Perhaps they just don't know proper use of tense.

Did you read the post I was responding to? It said the motif was dropping from Scalecaller. That is why I asked for clarification. Because if it was already dropping from Scalecaller, it would already be in the game.

Yeah, I read it all the way through. I've bolded the relevant portion for you.

That post makes it pretty clear that it is not yet dropping from Scalecaller, but that it will. ZOS keeps delaying it, probably to coincide with the release of the motifs from the crown store.

Still confused, or is that clear enough?

Above is Fang Lair (preview), below is Fanged Worm. The shoulders "pop out". Is hard to explain. Not sure if it only applies to smaller body models.

Only got 2 so far, but they do.

I average 1 a day doing at least 8 characters a day. Once, I got 2 in a day with 8 characters, but I have had a few days where I didn't have any.

So what you're saying in this bold part is that the boxes are what have the outfit styles (fang lair/horn dragon) in them.. And i can trade the box, kind of like the psijic waterlogged pouches.. Am i right?

I understand the concept of everything, and thanks to all that gave info. The confusing part was if these BG styles were motifs or not.. I did not realize zos added in these new "outfit styles"... Seems like a waste to me. I mean not a bad thing if they only have a couple but motifs are nice with transmutation because you can either craft it for someone or wear it yourself on anything..

Yeah @itzTJ I think that’s a reasonable comparison (but I haven’t touched the pouches yet so can’t say for certain how they work). But think of the outfit style pages as the recipes that drop from the pouches instead of the Pyan motifs. The style pages (/recipes) are account bound, so if you pull one out of a box then it’s yours. But the box (/pouch) itself is not bound, so you can trade that.

This threads not too old so im gonna ask again here.. Where do you get these dailys for the reward boxes?? Because i tried to get them today and i keep taking quests from battle master rivyn and have gotten mvp in 3 winning matches so far and havent gotten the box in the mail or from him after doing the quest..

First quest was do a BG.. Second quest was get 1k medals.. I forget the other one but are these not the right quests? TY

Its a reward for the daily random battleground. You want to go to the group & activity finder menu, choose battlegrounds and do the random battleground.

Its a reward for the daily random battleground. You want to go to the group & activity finder menu, choose battlegrounds and do the random battleground.
