I am coming back to eso from a very long time of playing magplar and I am leveling a stamblade, however I am really struggling with a build. Right now I am a woodelf and use a 2h and bow but I can only be useful at long range snipe spam in battles. Granted I am a lower level but I seem to be able to do no damage if I try to go melee. Can any experianced stamblades help me out?

Well if your going medium armor, I'm not sure if you are trying to 1vX, small group, zerg, or zerg surf. But in terms of just learning it, I would run

    2 bloodspawn OR Troll king
5 bone pirate (alternatively Eternal Hunt, Impreg, or Willows path) all on body

Now you can run either another 5 piece on both bars like spriggans, so spriggans jewels and both weapons, OR you could run something like 3 spriggan jewels, spriggan greatsword and a master bow backbar infused weapon damage enchant.

In terms of traits on the armor I have found 3 well fitted 3 Impen and 1 sturdy to be very helpful as I block alot even if for 1 or 2 seconds as that cuts alot of attacks damage down by 50%

Jewelry traits should be all infused in my opinion as it adds more weapon damage and if you run one stamina recovery glyph it would boost your regen by a lot, as you should run the serpent mundus stone.
Do not run infused on jewelry if you are running bone pirate as you would want to benefit from maximum stamina more than just weapon damage. I would highly recommend running one stamina recovery glyph on 1 of your jewelry.

In terms of skills my setup on my front bar is
    (2h weapon)
    Ambush
    Relentless focus
    Surprise attack
    Mass hysteria
    Rally
    Incap ULT

    (Bow)
    Vigor
    Shadow image
    Cloak
Poison inject (flex spot mostly UNLESS YOU HAVE MASTER BOW
Shuffle ( Always cast shuffle after breaking free very important as this the most expensive ability and you want the 80% reduced cost from CP
    Ballista Ult

You can run and execute on on your front stead of a gap closer but right now I combo relentless focus with incap so I would incap light attack right into relentless focus and it usually works quite well.

I would also recommend to getting used to roll dodging on your back bar for the passive that bow grants of major expedition

It's also very important for survivability to block when you are taking a lot of direct damage attacks as you will cut all that damage in half boosting your survivability and to affectively Use cloak and shadow image to get away from fights and out of aoe burns.

    Sets -

Willows path is very effective if using troll king with it as well as great for sustained but lacks maximum stats

Eternal hunt is a great set for both sustain and kite ability It's also very useful for getting away from stamina templars, stamina sorcerers who use abilities that are undogable and aoe.

Bone pirate is a great set for both maximum stats and sustain but lacks in kite ability

Troll king is great for replacing healing that was lost when cloak got nerf to No longer crit heals while inside of it Even while defiled it still adds about 1200 health recovery that is added to and on top of vigor and rally

Blood spawn is good for defensive resistance and pairs great with impregnable armor as a full defensive roll Dodge Max resistance set up I think a defending back bar bow will work the best with this.

These are all sustain sets I would recommend finding a damage set with a high up time like spriggins or hundings rage for a front bar or front and back bar set.

    Surviving -

To survive affectively on a stamina night blade you need to be able to pick and find your targets and prioritized them. If you encounter a fight with a light armored healer it should be your mission To split off the healer from the group and burst them down fast before moving on another target. Remember that low leveled players that are just Spamming light attacks are still doing damage to you that could be mitigated with a single incap combo as they are very squishy thus removing 2000 damage a second on you and removing a need to roll Dodge or cloak

If you are on the defensive you have to make sure that vigor is always ticking on you as you can lose health in medium armor very fast make sure not to over roll Dodge because you will also drain your stamina to fast. Line of sighting is very important in surviving on a stamina nightblade. Timing blocks while running away or about to teleport to a shade or canceling a burst combo is very important in midigating again a lot of direct damage very fast, holding block for even 1 or 2 seconds can mitigate 5 or 6 direct damage abilities increasing survival by a lot.

Your stats on a stamina night played for Comfortable survivability should be like this in my opinion.

    Minimum stats
    2400 stamina regen
    3500 full buffed weapon dmg
    23k health
    30k stamina
    12k magicka
    750 magicka regen
2400 health regen ( if using troll king)

Since summerset I only use essence of lingering health pots and tri pots.

    Combos -

You want to maximize as much damage as possible so to start off a good rotation I would use surprise attack of light attack bash. Surprise attack is a great D buff to their resistances and and 8% damage bonus because of it. Now after you have reduced their resistances incap will hit a harder make sure if they are blocking to fear 1st and then incap also make sure that before you incap, relentless focus is at 4 out of 5 light attacks so right after you incap and light attack and shoot the relentless bow.

If you are going up against a magica class that is in a light armor I would recommend doing the same thing except instead of incap using ballista on the back bar Ballista is excellent for killing shield stacking people because my ballista tool tip is 79000 / 5.2 seconds That amount of damage is also happening as you are surprise attacking light attacking and bashing As well as shooting the bow proc from relentless focus at the same time This serves as my highest burst potential of my personal build. Ballista is also very useful for getting and keeping night blades from using cloak And offers a high burst on medium armor targets as well. Remember that once you cast ballista you want to rush to the target and fear them to stop them from blocking or spamming roll dodge.

Your main combo will always be
    Surprise attack
    Light attack
    Bash
And relentless focus if it is up and incap isn't CLOSE to being up yet.

Goodluck against the sloads meta you will need it.
I can answer more question if you need it.

spriggan, hundings, stormfist, all divines. go double daggers and bow (maelstrom if u have) backbar and you should be able to reach atleast 35k dps on a target dummy. should be able to complete most content with that setup.
