How to have a more casual playing experience?

I haven't played this in a long time now. When I did, I was mostly ok but would run into a quest boss or some other enemy or enemies that would have me stymied for a while. Sometimes I had to figure out how to buff myself more, sometimes had to get help from another player, or sometimes just got lucky on x number try.

I'm pretty busy right now and would prefer to just get through and experience the story without getting stuck every once in a while. I hear about people making builds that eventually 2 shot most enemies and so on. I have a MagDK that is supposedly supposed to be really good as I have him but still had the aforementioned troubles. I keep up with my gear and weapons and have a high cooking skill. It seems like I should be better.

I had just got to level 50 so I'm into the champion system. Will getting more points from that make the game easier or harder? I'm also open to suggestions on abilities to use and if I should respec if you know a great setup. Fighting tips might help too. I think I move around well, but I feel like I spam abilities without a ton of strategy.

So any suggestions on how to make solo pve a bit easier? Aside from maybe a new character with CP applied, just because I have a lot invested in my main guy and I think any new character will eventually hit the same wall anyway.

Thanks.

Sphanlon I have a build for a Magicka Templar that is amazingly good for solo PvE. It's the best and easiest build I've ever played. In fact, I'd even say it's a little overpowered. I can solo anything except a World Boss (which I've never tried cause I'm a terrible coward :P).

But it's not a leveling build. It's for level 50 characters with at least 200 Champion Points. And I'm not sure if you want to go through the hassle of leveling another character. But if you do, you won't regret it. This build is incredibly easy to play, very economical and stupidly strong.

You see, I'm disabled and have limited use of my hands. So I really, really struggled to play ESO in the beginning. I actually stopped 'playing' for awhile and just did dolmen runs in the Alik'r Desert until I hit level 50 and had at least 160 Champion Points.

Then I crafted my final sets of gear and started playing properly. I'm having a blast! The build I'm using is just incredibly powerful. But it did take a bit of work to get to this point.

But if you're interested, just let me know and I'll send you a link to the build.

It'll round out again eventually. Try and get into crafting, if you can. It's a rough patch, yeah. I think it hurts the game, since a lot of new/casual players hit that wall and might decide they want to leave instead of continue playing. It's ZOS's choice how they handle that, though. They have the data.

I'd say, yeah, just get into crafting. Just try to find a zone without many players and do relaxed gathering runs at strange hours, build up your crafting skills and then look into the sets. Find out which sets suit your style. As you're gathering, you'll earn more CP, too. It's what I had to do to round everything out.

It's a rough patch, yeah, but you can come out the other side. It's just whether you want to see it through or not and how much that's worth to you.

I would recommend alts too, though. Alts can be fun. New class, new skills, new questline to play in...

I'd wear something with a bit more hp, or just slap on a health enchantment onto your chest piece. I did that when i wanted to solo world bosses

Magdks have the burning embers skill which is a really good self heal and is really good at keeping you alive. If you are wearing light armor then annualment/harness magicka is a good magic shield

Have you heard of food buffs? For whatever reason people take a very long time to realise they exist. I was 130cp or something and i told a fairly new 200cp player about them for the first time last weekend. Needs to get added to the tutorial. Get someone to make you some food, they give you another 5000 health and magicka. (Although witchmothers brew is best for magdks and that only give 3000ish)

I'm also mostly running solo and I have to say I enjoy it now after having had some struggle and can only confirm what has already been written, crafting & gathering is a good way to get where you want to be.

Also Delves are quite nice to get CP and experience and very often you get some help there.

Last but not least, there are a lot of good videos and websites, just type "MagDK solo build" in Google or Youtube and you will find good hints.

Have fun and enjoy this great game B)

^this. Make sure it says "solo build you don't want a trial/"endgame" build.

CP will make you stronger, and once you get to cp160 ( the gear cap) it's all up hill.
