A simple solution to partial looting

For non-group dungeon chests, enchanting runes, alchemy nodes, etc -- make it so that you must loot everything from it, or you get nothing at all. Since this game came out four years ago, I am still disheartened every time I come across an alchemy node, for example, and pull out only crawlers, or a thieves' trove and get 5 lockpicks.

A simpler solution is to just move on to one of the tens of thousands of loot items that spawn every single day.

and then add the OP complaint to one of a dozen+ previous threads about this same thing.

IDK if the search button's invisible for some, or what.

OP, your opinion is valid (it's still an opinion), but it didn't require yet another thread on the subject.

Like @Acrolas said, it's not as if there aren't enough nodes.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

All taken or not they still have the same spawn time after interaction. Is it really such a pain just to back out and go to the next node?

It's still a gift better than nothing. While playing MMO the best things are the unpredictible situations like this. Think about the players without subscriptions or low levels with low bag space or full bag, they take only what is necessary to them, leaving other items intact. That might not be their bad will, but the situation they are in. Take it (or leave it be) and move along.

Or people could just not be rude and loot everything instead of cherrypicking nodes and leaving the stuff they don't want for others to stumble on before the node respawns...

I wanted to cry last week when I decided to run my rivenspire chest route and came across 6 cherry picked chests in succession. I left and haven't been back.

Here's a better idea - once a node or chest is looted it disappears for everyone other than the player who looted it. In addition to solving the problem of partially looted chests, it would also solve the problem of having someone come along and clean it out while the first player is interacting with their merchant/banker to clear inventory space for the rest of whatever was in the chest (which has happened to me on a few occasions.)

a better solution would be to make auto-loot enabled by default.

    Because it is not Broke.

YOU can not force everyone to play your way.

Get over it Move on to one of the thousands of chests nodes etc.

If you do not want to be bothered by others. try a single Player Game

And what happens when your inventory is full? The reasons why I don't use auto-loot is so that I can see what I'm getting, and also if I'm running low on inventory space I can loot the valuable items first so that if some s'wit decides to come by and steal the rest before I can make room for it. Of which the only times I have ever NOT cleaned out a node was when someone did just that. (Or there was a unique item such as a treasure map that I already had in both my inventory and my bank.)

I did not know that the node respawns (I assume the chests and thieves' troves do as well? The giant clams? There aren't thousands of those sitting around waiting to be looted) on a timer set from the moment it's been looted, partially or fully. That does mitigate the issue somewhat.

It doesn't change that it's disheartening to loot these things and end up with just the trash portion to get, though. Plus, I might actually be going out of my path to get to something I think is going to be valuable, which adds to the part where it's annoying.

I really do think this is broken behavior. To those that say "what about those with not enough inventory to keep the junk?", well, it's only annoying to one person to have to destroy something in their inventory that they don't want. Leaving it for the next poor schlub to come along suddenly annoys two people.

This is game behavior that can be changed by the developers and end the debate once and for all. I'm suggesting a simple solution.
