Why is everything in Summerset so incredibly tedious?

Another thing... I really like the idea of the new dolmens but they feel like a rushed and unfinished job.

Why are there no quests involving them?
Why is there basically no story behind them?
And why aren't there distinct sounds or any audible feedback for them?

Dolmens have these awesome sounds you recognize immediately when it's opening up or finishing but for Geysirs... there's nothing. All you hear is the player sounds and maybe in the end the voice telling you that a special boss is coming. That's it.

Please don't get me wrong, I want to like Summerset. And I really like this game. But overall this Chapter feels so disappointing and little in comparison. A beautiful facade doesn't make up for underwhelming gameplay and the little amount of content that's in this zone.

I have found nothing tedious about Summerset. It’s the best addition to the game since...... the original game itself. Great quests, dialogue is good, quest path was properly considered. Jewellery crafting requires actual crafting discipline - something crafters have been requesting for an age, and the Psijic line is no more tedious than any other Guild skill line.

While I love the story and aesthetic in Summerset, I think it's hard to deny that it represents the next stage of evolution in a game which has been getting steadily more grindy since launch: whole motif books got replaced by individual pages, collectables started to come in pieces which you need to find and assemble, and now we are even getting fractions of mats which must be combined into a whole. It's all about slowing up progression and giving people something to do between content releases. Whether or not you find these kind of repetitive activities a good time investment or not depends on you as an individual. Some will see it as immersive, others as pushing the game too far towards feeling like a job.

Have to strongly disagree here though, and agree with the OP. The Psijic skill line was handled very lazily compared to the vanilla guilds, and the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Yes the others have their grind too, but the difference is that it's punctuated with interesting story developments taking place in unique areas. Psijic is just "go find some stuff on already existing maps, come back, report" repeated multiple times and with exactly one real story scene at the very end.

I disagree. No one could have looked forward to Morrowind more than I did, but I was a bit disappointed with the quests there, which seemed to go on and on without much interesting content (with a few exceptions). Summerset is not only breathtakingly lovely, but the quests are better written and more engaging than any I’ve seen in the game for a long time. Even the generally tedious Psijic order line had a bit of a story and a couple of interesting characters (well...the Augur, anyway).

Jewelry crafting turned out to be much easier to level than I anticipated, and there were more nodes available than I’d feared. If they would just fix the ridiculous number of mats needed to upgrade, I don’t think I’d have anything to complain about with jewelry crafting. As for the the delves and dungeons, to me they are fine.

I’m very happy with the expansion. I’ve been playing longer hours and having plenty of fun.

It's definitely not the only thing wrong with it but the altmer are by far the worst thing about it.

I am not having performance issues in Summerset. The only exception is the game freeze which is a bug that I hope gets fixed soon.

I do agree the quests seem very tedious.

The pisjic order questline is a decent story. I wish they would have come up with a more random or chaotic way for the time breaches. Not saying moving around but just something more dynamic when you find one. It is missing something, just not sure what that is..

I like Summerset (or try to). The dungeons and delves are confusing multi-leveled and irritating to navigate. A lot of thought seems to have gone into the design so I just roll with.

Quests are just so blah in ESO but I find Summersets particularly ugh because I never liked Khajiits or Altmer (yes due to Skyrim which I modded and spent HOURS arresting and executing Khajiits and AD so I KNOW I’m biased).

The Psijic order doesn’t excite me. However I LOVE the open world, new monsters etc. it’s a beautiful place to explore.

    In general I love summerset. But I do have three big complaints;

Putting the style for furniture crafting behind a daily that is not even a guaranteed drop of that item is just bad design.

While I get the reason why the upgrade material for rings is scarce, the master writ rewards do not reflect this greatly increase effort.

Also (again) furniture crafting, the (Green, blue, purple, and gold) JC mats are hard to come by, so please cool it on the JC material crafting requirements for those furniture pieces. Crafting a nice box should not be so expensive material wise.

Sorry OP does not like Summerset. It was a hit for me.

To answer his question about jewelry crafting. I assume his sentence stating why is it the only crafting where we need to gather pieces to make one completed piece is actually talking upgrade matts, he was not clear on that.

Zos stated clearly they wanted upgrading of jewelry to be more special than the other crafts. Basically that is it in a nutshell.

It is good for being able to do trait change.

The only thing I didn't like was the psijic quests, anytime I'm glad I don't have to do a quest EVER again is a bad sign (my other toons are for daily writs), but that's just me. The psijic skill line is disappointing too, skills seem too gimmicky, but again that's just me.

Everything else about summerset I like though

My only complaint with Summerset is that it's bland. It couldn't have been more cliché elf trope if it tried. Easily my least favourite zone. I'm not looking forward to repeating it soon.

Maxing out jewellery crafting really wasn't difficult though. You just dismantle drops. There's zero reason to actually make things to level a craft skill with the exceptions of cooking and alchemy, which are really fast. If you really wanna get it done fast just run some dolmens (that's where the overland jewellery sets drop in the base game) and you'll be there in no time.

Enchanting was far and away the worst crafting skill to max out.

Only bad thing about Summerset is that it doesn't reflect the already established lore and changes and degrade it to basic fantasy elf. So there is nothing special about altmer anymore. They are most civilized and ahead of any race technologically in lore ( I don't count Dwemer since they gone) but we never see any of this.
