Repeatedly dying in Psijic order quests! Help!

Shadrir
Shadrir
Just started the first line of the Psijic order quests and they are really hard for my Stam Templar. Those big tarantula looking things that hurl the red circles give me a hard time. I died a lot but finally got to the last quest where I got the staff to get in the mind of the guy to fight the giant slug thing thats controling him. I go through the little circle in his mind and end up at the slug boss and I just cannot kill him. I have snipe, hail of arrows, shuffle along with the stabby stam templar spell. I have sword and board for more mitigation and a mix of 2 heavy, 5 medium. What am I doing wrong? I try to fight from distance and die. I try to fight close up to use the jabs and I die faster. My only heal is the templar heal as of now. I don't have vigor yet.

Use skills that heal you. There are multiple of them in the stamina weapon trees (some require morphs).

New to thw game or existing player?

Do you have gear that supports your build? It does not need to great.gear, just.has.to have stamina bonuses. Are you using Food to buff your stats? Use your bow to drop DoTs, move close with sword and board, learn to dodge out red.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Thx. I am a returning mid-level player. I use food buffs. I dodge, a lot! However, I dont have near an optimal build. I don't have the healing morphs or lines finished. Having only 1 healing skill is killing me I think. I'm also just used to rolling through normal pve and I'm surprised by how hard these guys are hitting me.

You may not be aware, but you can play these quests with friends and guildies. Having a wing man might help you through the rough patches. Otherwise maybe there's new gear or skills that you could try, as some have suggested. Hit a shrine of Stenndar for a Respec? If you're on NAPC message me and I might be able to help!

I did the fight with K'torra without CP, and it required a little battlefield manuevering. I used a damage over time skill (Volley and morphs, for you) and kept that up on the boss as much as possible, kiting the boss and the adds in a circle to keep them in that damage as much as possible. Then I used my self heal, and pretty much used my active resources for those two things: my DOT skill and my self heal, heavy attacking when needed. But in the meantime, I was light attacking like mad. Light attacks don't cost resources, freeing me to spend resources on constant damage on the boss/adds and heals when I needed it.

Helpful tips for soloing boss fights on a new, no CP character:
Make sure your armor and weapons are close to your level.
Have a food or drink buff active. Holiday foods scale and are great for leveling characters. Food/drink makes the game a lot easier.
Kite in a circle, so that the boss and adds stay in your ground-based damage over time skills.
If you are running out of resources for your skills on long fights, be thoughtful about how you use them. I reserved my resources for healing and DOTs, while heavy attacking if my resources got low. My single target damage came from light attacks or my healing-from-attacking skill only when I needed healing.

Honor the Dead can be used for solo PVE on a stampler. I wouldn't heal a dungeon or anything but it can help you out in a pinch.

Also using Bloodcraze/Bloodthirst from DW. If 2H, then use Brawler. Bow has Draining Shot.

Quick note first, you should mark this for spoilers. I know you're being vague but there's enough here to constitute spoilers.

      Now on to your question:
People have already listed off a number of tips that can help bridge the gap for Healing. To save time I'm not going to repeat them, but they're all good ideas.
Two things I didn't see mentioned are...
      1. Momentum from the 2H skill line. It's a smaller HoT compared to some, but the morph Rally allows for a periodic burst heal.
      2. Health regen food(assuming you're not a vamp). Its a small impact, but it ticks constantly and for free, and might help a bit. Plus switching food is free ;)

However, all this, and other's tips aside... you're going to need Vigor. It's a sad fact of the game, but Stam toons are largely dependant on that one skill for effective healing.
Yes, it's a PvP skill line skill, but it's by no means just for PvP.
It's often inconvenient, sometimes even more so if you're not a PvP player, or not planning on playing that toon in PvP, etc... but eventually you're going to want(need) Vigor, so I'd advise grinding it soon.
And if you're a pure PvE player and you're annoyed at this, I don't blame you. But if it's any consolation, pure PvP players are forced into far more PvE content, than PvE players are forced into PvP. >_>

      Anyway, best of luck! :)
