Mend Wounds & Sorcerer Pet Targeting...

How does it work?

With Mend Wounds I turn my light/heavy attacks into light/heavy heals. My pets attack the target I am heavy attacking... so, how does it work with Mend Wounds? I guess it doesn't at all because that's what I'd expect from ZOS balancing but I am eager to hear if I might be wrong on this.

If you are asking if you can heal your pets then answer is yes.

You are not actually doing light or heavy attacks with your weapons but lobbing a heal at them with light attacks and channeling from your hands with a heavy attack.

This does not make your pet attack your allies or members of your group. They know a friendly target when they see one.

In other words, the use of mend wounds does not command your pet and it should not.

The question is not if I can heal my pets with Mend Wounds (I mean where did I even ask that?) or if my pets attack the targets I'm healing with Mend Wounds.

The question is how I command my pets with Mend Wounds activated.

What do you expect? That your scamp jumps on your tank and bites him in the arse? My uneducated guess is that it won't do a thing as pets don't attack team mates.

Again, who is talking about my pets attacking group mates? Obviously they won't do that because from a technical standpoint it's impossible.

My question is how I do command my pets with activated Mend Wounds. Do I need to turn it off, heavy attack the desired target (=enemy) and turn Mend Wounds back on? If yes, this is a major design flaw for both Sorcerers and Wardens when it comes to their abilities of commanding pets.

Yes you need to turn off Mend Wounds to Heavy Attack an enemy and thus command your pet to attack that target. The design for pet control in this game is atrocious, even before Mend Wounds.

You can use the keyboard shortcut (Mapped to "Y" by default) to command your pet,
left click + Y = attack enemy targeted (it does not fire your weapon iirc)
right click + Y = stand down (recalls the pet to you and de-aggros)

    You are just [snip] so.

Reroll on PC if you want a chance to play pet sorc in a viable way.

Even here, pets are buggy, but at least we can ask our pets to not attack anything moving around...

My apologies, I didn't realize, you may have said something earlier in the thread, I thought I read everything. I didn't mean to offend.

Would be something else though
Personally I would like to see that happening, would be fitting for the AI of those pets. But I imagine there would be plenty of people absuing that.

You said that the pets attack the target that you are heavy attacking and followed that statement with the question of how it would work (with Mend Wounds), not commanding, such as the pet command key.

Otherwise, you were referring to heavy attacks commanding pets, which you said you knew, they wouldn't attack an ally you are healing...
There isn't much else for interpreting your question besides being able to heal them.

That is where the confusion comes from.

I always had them attacking first, but this an interesting question. I as your Class representative will take note of the possible issue under pet issues. Please keep us update though on how it works out.
