    Hey all,

We want you to know we've seen this thread and others like it, and your reports of performance issues since the Update 18/Summerset release. We do have some performance improvements coming with the next incremental patch later this month.

Later this month is unacceptable. We can’t play the game we just payed for and love. This is sad.

The whole ordeal of make a pvp update and breaking it at the same time for a months is pathetic. You should be ashamed.

The talk and questions at E3 on the show floor around the Bethesda Booth is how the ESO game is currently unplayable on consoles.

Will all due respect Jessica why does the dev team not feel that this issue requires its own emergency patch? Sooner than "later this month"?

The way ZoS handles bugs and issues and the fixes for those bugs and issues continues to confuse me. Are you working with a skeleton crew over there? Is funding an issue? Why are these patches not tested better? Why can't we get a fix the next week after an issue crops up? Why so much feet-dragging?

also on another note, if you have not already you need to make a sticky post for consoles acknowledging the issue, so that there is one single consolidated thread and not 20 plus to sift through.

So you actually know what is causing this? ...and "later this month" means some weeks away?

It's very bad again on consoles.. don't know about PC players.

No freezing, but nVidia users are reporting frequent game crashing but it seems to be fairly isolated at the moment.

They can't do anything about that. Unlike PC where they have direct control of the servers at any time and can roll out patches and hotfixes at will, for console they have to schedule that sort of thing with the platform providers every time. So any bug fixes and performance patches can't be rolled out quickly. That is not ZOS' fault, you can blame Microsoft for that one.

They should have actually live stream the E3 audience how smoothly Cyrodil runs with Xbox and PS4... few minutes would have been enough for that sales pitch

The fact this patch even made it to the servers with a bug that freezes everything and renders the game unplayable for some should never have made it to the console. It's entirely ZOS fault. Saying the blame lies on Microsoft when ZOS are the ones that pushed the patch out is unreasonable at best. ZOS had to have known this bug was present, and wasn't something that could be fixed for almost a month later.

As I understand it, that's a scheduling thing and also related to the fact that other titles generally have bigger teams for their divisions or were developed from the start with consoles in mind.
It's not like the devs are sitting around going like "Hey, see those console folks? Yeah, let's delay all their stuff for no reason in particular"

Oh they had to have known? What do you base this information on? That kind of thing generally only reveals itself in server stress situation.
Also, you misunderstood what I said. I said patches can't roll out as frequently as for PC because of MS policy.

Wrong, both Microsoft and Sony have emergency client patch procedures as evidenced by other games patched in a few days when a game breaking bug or exploit is found. The clock started ticking on Summerset release as they know they had a problem from early access reports.
This is client side not server side in the first place.

Or maybe its "Hey lets not go the extra mile that other developers do to get our stuff out more quickly so that the players who sub to our premium tier don't have to play a broken game"

Maybe they need a bigger team. Not having a bigger team when they should doesn't excuse them from criticism.

You forgot to add that these things get worse and worse with every patch... These did not use to be such game breaking things as they have been lately.

How awesome would it be if instead of a new content trailer at the E3 presentation it cut to video of current gameplay with a bunch of freezes, comic book frame rates, rubberbanding, and then a crash... Then when they try to get it going again they have "This may be an unusually long load screen" and the presentation ends.

Re-presentation will be in a few weeks for those who wish to wait.

Yes, they do. Don't know if you remember Dragon Age: Origins or not. That game released on all the platforms at the same time. Because they delayed the pc launch for 6 months until the console versions were ready. The "day one dlc" that people were bitching about hadn't been ready for the original pc release "day one". If they hadn't delayed the pc version to wait for the consoles the dlc would have come out on schedule, much later than "day one".

When Microsoft and Sony demand so much control over content released on their platforms, it really should only affect their platforms.

Since there is a similar thread already going on, we will be closing this one down. As mentioned here:
    Hey all,

Just got a bit more info. To recap another post from this morning, we have seen your reports of an increase in performance issues on console since Summerset and Update 18 went live. We have some improvements coming with the next console update, which is coming next week. We understand the impact of these issues and are expediting the patch.
