I don't participate in RP but I do take interest in it (i.e. stop by to watch)
I used to hardcore RP in other games until people who a.) RP too much and leave reality, b.) ERP on the side c.) act unrealistic... ruined it for me.

Now... I'm not sure how ESO RP community is... But I have a really hard time even thinking about coming back to it. I love to watch good RP sessions though.

Strangely this seems to be much more of an issue on the American servers for some reason. I felt a whole lot more "secure" with RP on European servers.

I tend to avoid RP in this game as most of the RP community did not stay long in this game and what I have seen does not seem well developed. No offense to those that do RP here.

I chose other because I don't participate with other people or watch, but I do create stories for some of my characters that define their personality and life choices.

I used to be a hardcore RPer, but I don't RP anymore thanks to the people who destroyed the RP community in this game. I wanted to RP actual Elder Scrolls, but the RP community seems to think that this is Vampire:The Masquerade or Twilight RPG. You can see them all over these forums whining about how they can't hide their vampirism and want to make pretty characters. They seem to want to ignore the lore of the game which states plainly that being a vampire is an abomination and against the Aedra. Or, like some of the last RP that I saw, they will state that they are the new Emperor and demand that you give them the respect for being Emperor. Even worse, they will claim that they are a Septim. Tiber Septim is still 200 years in the future. *facepalms*

I don't think I've really seen any RP (I've turned off zone chat so I may have missed some), but I'd love to watch (quietly) if I did.

What I am strict about though is what my character wears, where he goes, and what he does based on the lore for his race (Redguard).

    Some example's would be:

    1. My "hometown" is Port Hunding in Stros M'kai, anytime i do banking, crafting, or general downtime I do it there since it's one of the first spots where Redguards settled. When my 6 month sub kicks in i'll also be buying a home in town.

    2. The type of character i play and the gear used i try to fit with the lore as best I can. Sword and board templar with a mix of redguard styled armor on my fixed outfit. As well as redguard style swords on both bars.

Not too much past that but I also try to avoid anything flashy or silly. It doesn't sound like a lot but when you try to be strict about certain things like that you realize how much it affects what you do and how you play.

I tend to do a bit of this too, though I'm not strict about it, preferring just to play "in character". I will generally try to dress the part, and not do things that are out of character.

I've also not really played too much of the EP questline (though I enjoy the AD and DC ones) because it tends to be quite focused on faction hostilities, and my Breton has a problem fighting other Bretons or the people from the AD, whom she likes.

I think up elaborate backstories and individual personalities for my characters and I roleplay their way through the game (often in the company of my boyfriend who takes a similar approach) but no, I don't do the kind of chat-based RP the OP was talking about. For me, roleplay in this game is more about imagining what my character is thinking and how they would react to a certain story, NPC, etc. than pretending to be them and speaking in-character.

Show me a completely smooth operation and I'll show you someone who's covering mistakes. Real boats rock.

I would like to have RP interactions now and then, but as I have only once stumbled across RP noticeably going on (and the way it was structured did not seem open/friendly to a random join-in right in the middle of it all, it would've been like a stranger intruding into the middle of a couple of close friends), I have not had the opportunity to really RP like that in this game.

My characters do have some story and their personalities are in my head and so often get played out in my actions with them in the game, so in that fashion I get to RP a bit.
