used some from quests, from dungeons, bought some (really hurt my pockets), but ultimately farmed dolmens in Alik'r to get to 50.

Dolmens, random chests in overland areas, treasure chests from maps, group dungeons and random drops from enemies.

    But mostly from Dolmens.

I just got to 41, but I'm doing the following (and my priority has been finding traited rings for research rather than level):

    1. Do Jewelry writs on all characters and feed all rings they get to my crafter
    2. Send any rings I get from chests/dungoens/other activities for decon, even if it's a good set
    3. Send mats to a guildie who is level 50 already to make me rings for deconstruction
    4. In our guild events, we are doing things that will reward jewelry. This morning for example, we went for completion of dolmens that our characters didn't have yet, and got a couple of generals in the process as well.

I'm taking it easy though. There are people who farmed dolmens, and that seems to be the cheapest and fastest way, if you can stand it.

Dolmens. Buying them from players or any other source is a complete waste of gold.

mostly summerset dailies, with a strong dash of treasure chests and whatever dolmens i could manage, as well as whatever jewelry I got from doing daily writs on 10 characters. summerset dailies are not as fast as dolmens, but they are more fun and you have a chance for sapiach style and culanda laquer that way (I did feed my main all the stuff I got on alts also).

dolmens are probably the fastest, as in zerg group, you go through them very quickly and guaranteed at least one piece of jewelry per dolmen chest (rng is not kind to me, so from treasure chests and summerset dailies, I'd only get jewelry about half the time)

I did do some pledges, but I don't consider them a good source for me at least, as I have gone through several in a row without getting a single piece of jewelry to drop

Exploring (and stealing...), dailies, and dolmens. I only maxed... 2 days ago? And I play A LOT, so, it's a bit of an effort, but try not to worry so much about the grind, play as you'd normally play, and maybe add a few extra dolmens to it.

I probably only did 1-2 hours of dolmens throughout. But like I said, I play a lot.

If you WANT to grind... I do actually reccomend emptying out your bags, and running alik'r dolmens with your addons disabled and your graphics insanely low. Looots and lots of people, lots of particles and whatnot to slow your computer. Alik'r is the only place I ever have to change my settings.

Stealing, treasure chests, and even more stealing. Jewelry boxes in Vvardenfell and Summerset especially. Not that I ground it out, I steal and loot like this any normal day.

Dolmens and Geysers, the latter is better as there are new alchemy ingredients to gain with a chance of psijic motif pages, it took me 4 days with 2 to 3 hours grind everyday, could not take more than that :P, plus I play to enjoy and grinding is not really fun for me, that's what it took to max out.

I also did writs on several characters to feed my crafter rings for decon.

Mostly dolmens, it's been a mix of dolmens, trips on guild traders to find cheapest blue ones, vet dungeons to get purples, chests around while farming nodes gave me many blue-greens and dolmens again.
I spent a very low amount of gold and leveled to 50 in two days.

So I went for the less expensive method and it took short time enough (could have been even less time if I went after skill books), moreover it's not like I was missing out something huge for not reaching 50 immediately, master writs are trash and surveys can be spared until level 50 anyways.

On my "main alt" there is another story, I took it slower though.
I crafted for it white jewels level 150 with my main, the alt reached level 30-32 deconstructing those.
Then I've run some dolmens, farmed chests around and found a book in a delve that gave me one point in jewerly (that was lucky because he was level 46, pretty hard to advance at those levels), now it's level 47, but I've never been in a hurry with him, once I find pieces I can spare I give to him to get 50 or I can go after the other skill books.

Quick question but does the Geysers go in a common pattern like Dolmens or is it pretty much random?

Dolmens. Buying them from players or any other source is a complete waste of gold.

Not a waste at all. I bought a ton of jewelry from farmers and re-sold most through guild store. I also used some of my stock to level to 50. I sold about 2m gold worth of jewelry gross, and walked away with maybe 700k in gold after the cost of acquisition, the losses from deconning part of my stock, and taxes. This was all from the first week of PC release.

A few hundred thousand may have been from things I acquired elsewhere, but nevertheless, buying was much better than grinding, an epic waste of time. Plus, it helped support my trade guild.

Sadly, the market isn't where it was so trying to repeat this would not be profitable.

Neither. They're on a timer. That timer might be someone random within a range, but it's ABOUT ten minutes.

Aren't dolmen just timed? It is possible only one is allowed to be up at a time (which experiences makes me thing is the case), but the only reason why it looks like a pattern in Alik'r is that people open them as soon as the timer finishes. When no one is grinding, people can restart the cycle in the opposite direction, depending on the order they visit the dolmen.

On my first guy I mostly just did dolmens, was quick but painful.

My next guy is about 30 in JC and I've been doing geysers to level him ... much more fun and still quite a good haul of rings. Can do a bit of fishing in between too.

It is true that only one dolmen can be up at a time but they usually go in a pattern. In Alik'r Desert they will either go clockwise or counter clockwise and in Auridon they go south to north or north to south.

I was just wondering if the Geysers in Summerset might work in a similar way as it makes it easier to grind if you can predict which one is going to be active.

No, dolmens are not just timed. Another one becomes available as soon as one is closed. Which one that is usually follows a pattern, but that pattern can change. On the one hand, it’s not always in the same direction, so there’s clearly some variance. On the other, sometimes the one you go to doesn’t spawn the cultists and you have to go to the other (this can occur even when neither has been started).

Started farming chests in Wrothgar and deconstructing all rings I didn't need from dungeons, trials and quests. Then realised doing dolmens was much faster for getting jewelry :)

Yes, they're on a fifteen minute timer and only one may be active at a time. HOWEVER, if all dolmens in the zone have been completed before that timer is up for any of them then the next one visited by any player will reset instantly, timer or not.

The geysers work the same way.

See above. I've tested this a lot. There is no "pattern" in that sense. When one dolmen is completed, the next one visited by any player in the zone will activate. This can cause the impression that there is a pattern of some sort because you'd visit your dolmen and nothing happened, so you travel to another one and find it active with noone around. What actually happened in that situation is that a random quester walked past it with no intent of doing it and triggered its activation and broke the "pattern".

If there are no active dolmens in the zone and you can't trigger one of them, it's probably because it's timer is still active while the other is not.
