Seriously can you guys figure out why this keeps happening with steam users consistently and work with Steam to fix it?0 -
Analara✭I bought and originally installed the game as a steam install and later deleted and fresh installed a digital version from zenimax, but I am having the exact same issues as the current steam users. there seems to be a residual steam api file on my computer somewhere, and if I remove it, I can no longer even reach the login screen. I wonder if there is something in that file that is blocking things?

supergrmlSoul ShrivenI have login problems with ESO as well as with Quake Champions, both connected to steam. So it seems Zeni/Bethesda are both having problems.
On the other hand Quake Live works fine, but I think this is running on Steam servers.Edited by supergrml on June 9, 2018 8:03PM0 -

Actually, I'm the same as you, but I have a new PC with a fresh DVD version install on it, and no Steam, and can't login. I have the game listed on steam but don't use it.1 -

API stands for application programming interface and just a way to connect program to a different program. For example by adding Steam API, Zenimax make ESO able to launch and login Steam users. So it's dll can't do harm without Steam itself.
TL;DR: This file contains code Steam uses. Without Steam it's useless.1 -
So, I just navigated to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso64.exe and clicked on it and it allowed me to login!0

Trying to redeem my Summerset code and this makes it impossible.
I also could not login to the game client using my Steam link. It kept giving me a timeout or an error message and I had to use the eso64.exe launcher in my steamapp/docs folder to launch the client.0 -

Every trial is buged, game crashes non-stop, 0 performance improvement from update 18, only freezes and fps drops, and now we cant even play the game we paid for? I think it's about time for ESO to let go of Steam....this is ridiculous and happens way too frequently. Is it really Valve? What makes you think that? Just remember that Valve has much better service than ZOS at this point considering things such as Dota 2, CSGO, Steam itself and other titles they have released (server wise, not profit wise).
