Buying a house

Is it worth it? I spent my first Two months of eso+ Crowns on crates, just for the fun of it. But I’m thinking of saving up to buy a house. Do most people use them, or is that kind of a niche thing - not so useful, more something to do for people have reached the end game?

It really depends on what your particular approach to game play is. Some people very much enjoy the housing aspect of the game early in the game (either because they like collecting furnishings and customizing the appearance of one or more homes, or because they're into roleplay and like to set up homes as locations for that, or because they use their homes as free "fast travel" wayshrines, or for whatever other reasons). Other people have little interest in housing until they reach end game content. Still other people have little interest in housing at all.

There are several free inn rooms (small houses) that you can get (one for each of the three factions - located in Ebonheart, Daggerfall, and Vulkhel Guard - and if you have the expansions one in Vivec City for Morrowind and now one in Alinor for Summerset). These simply require that a character that has not yet claimed a free inn room complete a "conversation" quest at the appropriate location (for the faction ones, the character must also be associated with the relevant faction). If you have not done that, you might try checking those out to see how you like them/feel about using housing a little bit, before you go for a larger purchase. Even if you don't have an interest in using them as houses, grab them anyway - they make wonderfully convenient free fast travel wayshrines.

Beyond that, there are a number of smaller houses that can be purchased with in-game gold that are quite inexpensive.

Looking at Faunter's ESO house price list will give you some good data on houses to look at purchasing with in-game gold vs what you might consider spending crowns on.

It really depends on how bad you want that particular house. Id really like the topal hideaway house but im not paying $100 plus for it and since i didnt have enough free crowns when it was available, i dont own it. So i will keep working on gold houses and if i get bored doing housing then i wont need it anyway.

If you are going to get one house, get Mournoth Manor in Bangkori. Perfect location, yard accomodating to a crafting area, dueling yard and gardens. Nice interior that will not be overwhelming to furnish, and a wayshrine and dolmen that drops Spriggans jewelry just outside tjw door. Not to mention an area that has a lot of heavy sacks nearby.

So, yes it is worth it to have a home.

Also do the game quests to get the free apartments so you have free travel to various cities

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

Can I just point out how frustrating that is. I honestly can't believe how much they're asking for housing in this game. $100 for a digital house is far to steep to me. Sure the sub crowns it works but outside of that it's too much money.
