How to approach JC?

So I just got this on Xbox. I know everyone will want to get JC maxed. So what is my best option to do this? I know it time consuming and also can cost a fair amount of gold, but I am just curious.

Same as all crafting, just work at it casually and dont try to rush anything. That being said, try to research the more in-demand traits first.

first step... get the jewellery accreditation on as many toons as you have, then you can do writs and writs = stuff and surveys.

There are vendors in the Mage Guild that sell white jewellery you can decon to accelerate the levelup.

Don't Decon white stuff you have to buy, do your daily dungeons and kill stuff for purple and blue if you want stuff to decon.

Leveling it isn't really a priority since it is very expensive to craft jewelry that can compete with what you would just find playing the game. And anything you craft will be quickly out-leveled.

If you really want to level it now, I will assume that since you are new, you don't have gold or AP to spend to buy stuff to deconstruct. If you aren't willing to just level as you go using stuff you find and daily writs, you can grind dolmen. There are groups that you can join to cycle through the 3 dolmen in a zone, Alik'r being the easiest and most active, and each dolmen will give you a chest with either 1 or 2 pieces of green or better jewelry.

If you decide to level, I believe you should save your blue and purple jewelry initially as you have to reach certain crafting levels for the better quality jewelry to give you more inspiration (crafting xp) than the lower quality jewelry.

Get research going. Get writs going and save your surveys. Sell all the jewelry for 2 weeks. Then level one toon up deconing whatever you get after the market settles. Then do the surveys, get the passives and refine everything. By the time you can make a purple set, you wont remember that you held off two weeks getting to level 50. Getting to 50 is practically a side note in the process.

Either farm dolmens for jewelry for 10 hours, spend a ton of gold buying intricate rings or find somebody already max level and pay them to level you up

Use a Jewelry crafting station to open up the skill line. Decon (almost) ALL jewelry that you find, including zero-value electrum rings in containers - you get better value deconstructing Ornates than selling them for gold. Very few jewelry sets are worth more than their decon value. If you get duplicate (new) trait jewelry somehow, sell them on a guild trader (easily worth 50k or more initially). Probably worth saving gold jewelry tho.

Quick and dirty route: grind dolmens - each dolmen chest has a jewelry piece that you can decon. Once you are at max level, all jewelry seams that you find will be Platinum - before then 50% will be at your jewelry passive level instead.

Long term success route: get certified on all your toons and do daily writs, to get surveys. You won't level up fast, but will collect mats and can work on your trait research when you do writs. Note that Jewelry writ inspiration is broken at the moment for non-pewter writs (copper and up). Try to save up stacks of unrefined raw materials until you have maxed your passives for extracting upgrade tempers.

Less grindy levelling options: farm treasure chests or do guild dailies, especially a fighter guild daily (dolmens). The guild reward urns often have jewelry items too. Treasure chests have jewelry about 20% of the time, so not that great, but every bit helps. Vet dungeons are good and give more jewelry than normal dungeons. Many daily repeatable quests have jewelry items in their reward urns about 25% of the time.

Get your trait research going and farm trait mats when you can: do at least one normal trial a week, try to do at least one random dungeon daily, finish the Psijiic questline as soon as you can so that you can loot portals if you find them, and if you do PvP, go for the PvP dailies. Be prepared to spend a lot of gold in the beginning, because jewelry with the new traits is RARE and you will not be able to stay researching continually unless you have some buddies who can craft you research items. Example: a Harmony trait jewelry item has maybe a 1% chance to drop when opening an Undaunted chest. (I hope you saved lots of keys).

Ignore Jewelry master writs for now - the rewards don't match the costs.

If your rich enough costs about 5m gold to purchase white jewelery from the mages guild vendors and you can decon those or if you have 7.5m ap to spend around that way works as well

This is what I did for a non-grind leveling to 50 ... took about 2 hours with some back and forth to the Cyrodiil jewelry crafting table.

Anyone having trouble finding the resource nodes? Ran around all day in summerset and only came across one node. ONE. Gave me three pewter dust. This is beyond ridiculous. Can't even do writs because it requires three rings at the lowest tier. This will take forever.

Like what others said, grind a bunch of dolmens, Devon the jewelry, add skill points as it levels. Rinse and repeat. Make sure you have 30 cp in the lord for inspiration bonus.

Investing passive skill points into keen eye helps to spot them easier.

Best to farm other zones that are not so crowded.

You can buy enough jewelry from farmers in Alik'r for less than 5m gold, but it takes more effort. I say that as someone who spent over 1m gold buying jewelry from dolmen farmers to resell & for my own character leveling.

Getting it maxed should be the least of your concerns. I get that maxing the passives will help with both, research times and maxing extra upgrade mat drops from decon and refining but the 10X upgrade mats requirements and rarity of trait mats which also need that 10X grind will make having jc at 50 not really matter all that much - get there when you get there.

But if you want to max it fast dolmen grinding is by far the quickest way that doesn't involve spending crazy amounts of gold or AP to buy from players or cyrodiil vendors.

Just research and transmute. Rest all is waste of time and broken.
