Your crown crate items are getting too wild. Please, please stop...

Guys, I feel like you are making the crown crates almost as bad as some anime / eastern MMOs.
How do any of these colorful, glowing, whatever mounts, fit into the Elder Scrolls world? They don't...

I am half expecting to log in one day and see you have some item to make your head 3x as large as normal, or have some World Cup Soccer championship logo stuff on people's armor...

Please tone it down

Sorry, but not everyone cares about Lore or how things 'fit' into the ESO world. There are many many players who are NOT ES fans or have even played another ES title, they are here because they enjoy the game, quests, content, etc.

In a make believe world of fake gods, interdimensional beings that glow, magic, etc. You're concerned about mounts that glow too? Personally, I like them.

I'm sorry but that doesn't even make sense.

If you play Elder Scrolls Online you would expect things that are thematically "Elder Scrolls." Glowing green mounts, red tendril saber tooth cats, it totally does not fit.

They do fit, ZoS has a license to develop the Elder Scrolls IP. So long as they stay within the limits of that license and have the approval of the IP holder, whatever they declare lore is lore. If they decide to put something in here then it does fit in to the Elder Scrolls world because they say it does. Claims that ZoS ruins immersion has no legal basis in reality because the IP owner gets to decide what is canon and what is lore breaking. Simply how Intellectual Property laws work.

Why doesn't it fit? Shadowmere was not a typical horse and had particle effects about it. There are even spectral horses, you can't ride them but they're there regardless.

The elder scrolls lore doesn't prevent any of these magical creatures from existing.

Who determines if something fits the lore or not? You?

There are no criteria based on which one could determine if something is "thematically Elder Scrolls". Especially if we already had magical creatures and glowing mounts in the previous TES games. Not all of them were "rideable" but it doesnt matter.

And let me tell you a harsh secret: business > lore. These glowing mounts sell well. That said, they constitute a huge profit for Zenimax and most likely are tied with maintaining and developing the game. Why should they give up on this? Because of... lore?

And for me, this game contributes to lore the same way and to the same extent as other TES games did. As such, if there are glowing mounts in TESO, they exist in TES universe.

I'd love to see more thematic cosmetics - Race tied for example. Khajiit costumes were very cool (and seeing the amount of people wearing them, I am not the only one thinking that), the same applies for some mounts that aren't as bright. I believe a more balanced approach would be better - Instead of having only very flashy or very "realistic" mounts, a mix of both could be beneficial. Variety is always a plus!

People like garbage. What bothers me is all the visual effects of these mounts in one place more burden on the GPU contributing to dropping frame rate in crowded areas.
Not to mention mounts exploding out of the ground startle me when I am sneaking around. lol

Well, you can like the generalities of the lore, like the setting, like the game mechanics, etc.... and not get worked up by the smallest details.

Or, you may have played Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim with so many crazy mods, that you wouldn't blink an eye if a 600-foot tall Barney danced out of the ocean singing his theme song and destroying cities by tossing M1 Tanks at them. :D

edit: that said, I have no interest in any of the flashy mounts, and have been content to have all my characters ride around on a black horse.

I’m waiting for my Murica Crown Crate! I heard that it will have things like AR15s, Bacon, a Bald Eagle pet, a Longhorn mount and a memento where the character swats a snowflake to the ground before stomping it out.

Ofcourse they can do what ever they want, but they can ruin there franchise. They far from that point now, but took some steps in that direction. Mentioning ruining franchises, Blizzard come to mind. I was fan of StarCraft and Diablo, they had their own style and atmosphere. But then Blizzard made World Of Warcraft that has great success and they decided that they found formula of that success. And now all Blizzard franchises look and feel the same- WoWish. Cartoonish graphic style and epicness and great evil after each corner. With StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 they ruined thier franchises, at least for part of old fans.

In other thread about mounts i am complaining that they don't fit lore, and have no "logic" behind them. But now i tend to agree with some posters above, that it's just poor execution. They can potentially make mounts, that can be flashy, eye attractive, but fit the overall style and surroundings, like at the picture above. But they made Gummy Bears mount.
