Daily Reward reset timer

Regarding the new daily rewards...

I logged in this evening and was offered the third daily reward (tomorrows). I mentioned it in guild. One guild member told me that the countdown started the moment you logged in. But that doesn't make sense as yesterday and this morning I had a countdown of around 9 hours to go. Which makes sense for a 6 pm time slot for me as it was 8 something this morning that I logged in. This same guild member also stated that they had 21 hours on their countdown while I had 23. Another guild member indicated that they had a 6 pm reset time as well (I do not know their time zone). And a third member got their second day reward, had a 23 hour countdown, changed zones and got notification for the third day's reward.

Is it a rolling reset at a specific time per time zone, i.e. 6 pm in every time zone? Or is it tied with GMT or some such thing which I just happen to be +6 hours away from? And if a per time zone reset, wouldn't a 6 am time slot have been better?

For clarification: I am in Central time zone (Illinois, whatever version of Central that may currently be)

20 hours from when you claim your reward is what is intended.

However, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom said they were looking into issues with the Daily Rewards in another thread ...

Seems to be 20 hours from when last checked collected. As such works like horse riding.

its 8 pm eastern for me, or at least it appears to be. i thought it may have been 20 hours, but when i grabbed the rewards yesterday right on reset, i had a 24 hour timer. first day it was 15 hours cooldown. moreover, when I hopped on my side account a little later yesterday , the timer was 23 hours. so i assumed 8 pm eastern.

Looks like 8pm Eastern here, too. Which I suppose means that it's set to 00:00 UTC.

Personally, I find it screwy, particularly when all the daily quests (but not the random dungeon daily) reset at 2am Eastern. It's one more timer to keep track of in order to make sure you don't miss a day. Would it be too much to ask for stuff like this to be synchronized to the daily reset? For instance, have the random daily and daily rewards reset with the rest, and then have trials reset with the Sunday morning reset (or Monday morning for that matter)?

When I grabbed it this morning it said 10 hours to the next. I was on a bit ago and was able to grab the next, and now it says 20 hours to go. Something is screwy with their timer.

As others have noted, it's not a screwy timer, it's a variation from how it's normally done. The rewards reset at 8 pm Eastern, so whenever you collect your reward the timer will tell you how long it is until 8 pm Eastern. So @first_kodiak you must have grabbed it at around 10 am eastern, thus getting 10 hours until 8, and right now it's around 20 hours to 8 pm tomorrow.

It's not a hard timer for me to remember since that is also GW2's daily reset time (they don't do rolling timers in that game), but I can see how it would confuse those used to rolling timers like horse feeding or wee-hours-of-the-morning timers like daily quest resets.

I logged in this morning and had a reward ready to be claimed, but I didn't want to claim it to the low level character I had logged in to. When I switch to my main character, the same reward that was ready to be claimed suddenly has 16 hours left... What the ??
