Character load timeouts / infinite load starting ~5pm PDT

Played for hours earlier just fine, suddenly ~5pm PDT started getting char load timeouts and can't login to continue cycling alts for crafting writs. Anyone else start seeing this? Doesn't seem connection related as everything else online is fine, and even main login into game char screen is fine. Just char load timeouts.

Jacozilla✭✭✭✭✭add another side thing - after many attempts to load, finally got in - got daily login reward screen and notification. Tried to get reward but instantly logged out when the popup explaining the reward came up (which wasn't there yesterday on first reward but started today).
not going to guess root cause without proof but it does seem oddly coincidental and seems related to daily login rewards launch. maybe just the increased traffic, but game pretty much unplayable as most the time can't load char and when finally do, logged out automatically shortly after.
can get into main login screen just fine so apparently the main login server is just fine. everything else isn't0
