I understand the whole limited time marketing ploy, and I don't have a problem with the concept itself but I think it could be implemented a lot better (in a more customer friendly way that would probably result in more sales).

How about featuring limited time items in the showcase that will be available for the whole month, for example? Then we wouldn't have so many people who miss out on the current four day availability windows because they happen to be on vacation or taking off for a long weekend at the beach, especially during summer months.

Like some here have alluded to and alcast's link I'm sure describes. You are a victim of your own desires. You think ZOS haven't done their research on the fact that when stuff is readily available then people are less inclined to rush out and get it as soon as possible? I'm sure they have also figured out that after the first few days that something is on sale it could take months, if not years, to match the sales of those first few days. So why not get the best of both worlds and along with taking the high sales of the first few days, and put actual pressure on their customers saying, "buy now or live in regret".

It's totally understandable to disagree with the practice. But also naive not to understand that you're upset with capitalism, and should realize that the profit incentive and morals don't mix well.

It is just a game. These limited time items they are selling will have absolutely no meaning to anyone 5, 10, 15 years from now. Who really cares if you get it or not. It adds nothing to the functionality of the game itself. In my opinion people who by these items are just trying to impress other people, wow look at me and what I have and you don't. Let it go and move on with your life. Like I said earlier it will mean nothing to you in the big picture down the road and it is just a WASTE of money.

Yeah because people can't just buy items because they like it, they must be doing that just to impress other people.
Well idk, I live in a poor country but spending $30 is not something impressive. Its not like real life luxury stuff, like super elite watches and super expensive cars, its just pixels.

Makes sense. My mild frustration stems from the very narrow window available to buy things which feels (?) like it has become more prevalent.

Some people have more dollars than sense. That's one way to look at it.

Some people don't think that they are "...just trying to impress other people, wow look at me and what I have and you don't..." Perhaps some do. You shouldn't generalize people that way. You don't know their motivations or why they do what they do. A person who makes statements like that could be considered to be "projecting" their own inadequacies. (note I am not saying that about you. I'd never do that.)

There is no point in ZOS making something limited because they just release it in crown crates at a later date. The whole idea of having limited edition mounts is made entirely redundant thanks to crown crates. I got the Doom Wolf when Dark Brotherhood got released, I didn't see a lot of people with it, and then after crown crates were released with Doom Wolf as a potential prize, loads of people had it and I felt like I didn't have a rare mount anymore.

No to crown crates and please keep limited time mounts limited.

While I agree that it's quite clear that the majority of items released are now limited (and to 4 days?), I also am of the opinion that it's a business and businesses are allowed to make money however they want ethicaly. Not to say others can't have their opinions and desires, I just don't see the point in trying to get a successful business model to change to a less profitable one.

One might quote the numerous posts complaining about the "clown" crates and say that shows customer disatisfaction which would surely hurt profits. But forum posts typically represent 10% or less of the actual player base. And I've seen a LOT of players with crown crate exclusives in game.

So end of the post to tie it back to the OP, I don't have an issue with the number or limited items but I do have an issue with the duration they are limited for.

It's a choice isn't it? Why does everyone hate on Zos for giving us the option to buy some time exclusive stuff?

If anything they should just not do it and focus on fixing the game. But we know they're not going to do that so we might as well just enjoy them.

Better role play. Wouldn't it great to go in the store and see a huge array of accessories (mounts, costumes, pets, hair, etc.) to construct a carefully themed character? Each to his own, but it's baffling to me someone would say no to that.

I agree with the thread author. There are many beautiful items in the crown store. I have missed many of them already (e.g. Fenek non combat pet...the white version. I see many players having it and I was searching for it... where can I get it... and then on one website I could read that it's...gone).
There were many items that are removed permanently. I couldn't even find any info if they are available in the crown crates.

To kinda defend ZOS I would say that I am happy with what I can get from the game without purchasing crown crates.
