Is there a way to get more storage without spending more money on the game?

This is a series issue for me as I loved playing the older elder scrolls games & even the fallout games where you basically have unlimited storage. The lack of storage in this game makes me not play the game at all & it's a shame because I do like the storyline to it & the gameplay is decent but i can't get past the fact that there is basically no storage in this game at all unless you pay for it. Why limit how much some can store, I just see that as a money grab & I'm not wasting anymore money on this game its ridiculous. Is there anyway I can increase my storage space without spending my hard earned money?

Backpack upgrades with gold.
Bank upgrades with gold.
Get a mount and train it's carrying capacity with gold.

(It took awhile, and I'm not maxed out, but I've got 200 bank storage, and my 'main' character has 150 pack storage between upgrades and her mount.)

Another way to store extra stuff that you don't think you'll need at a moments notice is to make an alt, park them in the bank, and use them to hold some things. If you have un-used character slots, of course.

If you've previously only played offline single-player games then you need to understand that with online multiplayer games there needs to be an ongoing revenue stream for the developer to keep the game going and further developed.

You can contribute either by subscribing, in which case you get a crafting bag for materials and increased bank slots etc, or by buying stuff in the crown store including increased storage.

What you can't expect to do is buy the base game and then play it fully with no additional costs.

However, as others have said there are ways of increasing your inventory and bank slots etc with ingame gold, and you also need to accept that inventory management is important so that this isn't the sort of game where you can just hang onto every item you get regardless of whether you actually need it. Most of the players who complain about inadequate inventory slots are inveterate hoarders, and there's absolutely no need for that in ESO. They're also probably not subscribers, and subscribing makes an unbelievably critical difference where storage is concerned.

Make sure you have at least visited a backpack merchant as that is a very easy way of increasing your inventory. Also, use your character slots by creating additional characters if you need to use them as mules, each carrying a particular type of item. Make sure you're accessing a free inn room in each alliance starting area as you can store excess furnishings etc in them as well as using them for porting around.

Cheapest way to get extra storage is extra characters coupled with a few backpack upgrades each. They get progressively more expensive, but the first couple on any toon are very cheap. Then make sure you feed horses every day on all your characters.

I am going to let you in on 2 secrets:

First, this game becomes very hard to play without the craft bag once you have been playing a few months. If you really like the game, and want to stick around, you should consider subscribing (you also get double bank space). End of the day, a game like this cant run without people subscribing, and the devs know it.

Second, if you are relatively new, almost nothing you get is worth hoarding that wont already fit in your craft bag (see my first point). Any item below CP160 (with very few exceptions) should be deconstructed or sold to a vendor. Good chance your bags are filled mostly with junk.

If you are new, buying (using gold) bagpack upgrade at backpack merchants is always a good way for you to get the initial 20-40 slot upgrade, same goes for the bank upgrade

I have been playing on & off since the game came out. I usually play until I get frustrated with the lack of storage then stop. I have already purchased the bagpack upgrades when I first started & I also use the slots in the bank (which I believe is 30 slots might be 60 cant remember right now) & I was gifted a chest from Bethesda that holds 30 items this is still not enough for me. How do you get writ vouchers/telvar stones?

I totally understand it's not the same as playing a strictly offline single player game. I just want to store my crafting supplies & special weapons/armor I've come across. most items I pick up usually end up being sold to merchants whenever I can to save space & get gold. I'm still trying to upgrade my crafting skills so I can actually use the supplies I have found.

Without spending real cash you can get your bank to 240 slots, each character to 200 slots(140+60 from mount), you can get 4 60 slot chests and 4 30 slot chests to place in a home or the free apartment. That gives a total of 2092 spots for free over the course of 8 characters.

You can also take advantage of the Craft Bag during the occasional free ESO+ week when it gets offered which will hold unlimited amounts of crafting materials.

It will take some time. You can speed up the process by selling some of the stuff you aren't using

Personally, I recommend buying a second account as well. It can serve multiple purposes; some extra hoarding space, you can use that account to join all trade guilds leaving your first account for social/pve/pvp/rp/erp or whatever your into, and if you find yourself full on items while out and about you can mail items to it to make room. You can find copies of the base game for 10$ or lower when on sale.

Another thing to keep an eye out for is the periodic "Free ESO+ Trial" events. For ~5 days, you have free access to the bonuses that subscribing would bring (to encourage you to subscribe, of course.

)

This means that, if you log on with all your characters during that time, any crafting stuff you've gathered will get shoved into the ESO+ Crafting Bag.... which still works when un-subscribed (for the purposes of storing & using the materials, you just can't put new stuff in it.)

Unfortunately, one such event just happened about a month ago, so it'll likely be awhile before the next one.

How do you get writ vouchers/telvar stones?

Telvar stones are gained from doing things in the Imperial City DLC. It's a mixed PvP/PvE area, though, so that might not be up your alley. (People will run around trying to kill you and take the stones you've gathered.

Writ Vouchers are a master crafter thing.... when you do daily crafting writs at max crafting level, you have a chance to get 'Master Writs' in the rewards. They will ask you to craft a specific item (like, say, a Rubedite Greatsword, in Dark Brotherhood style, of the Twice-Born Star set, at epic quality) in return for some vouchers. The harder the item is to make, the more vouchers (theoretically). You can then spend those vouchers on various items from a couple vendors.

It's not really an option for someone who's still trying to build up their crafting, since you need max crafting level, to have researched many traits for those crafting skills, know plenty of style motifs, etc.

1). You can buy backpack upgrades with in-game gold to give each character 140 inventory.

2). You can buy "riding capacity" for your horse with in-game gold. Once every 20 hours, up to 60 slots. The "riding capacity" is a bit misleading. It is pure backpack inventory upgrade. You don't need to be riding your mount to get extra storage space. It is always available.

So that is 200 storage per character for in-game gold.

3). You can also buy up to 240 slots of bank space with in-game gold. This is shared between all your characters, not per character.

4). Finally, you can buy housing storage with crafting writ vouchers. Harder to get than in-game gold, but still an in-game currency, not cash. This gives another 270 storage. This is shared between all your homes and characters, similar to your bank.

If you subscribe to ESO+, you get a crafting bag that holds infinite (well, not quite, but close enough) storage for crafting components like iron ingots, alchemy flowers, food ingredients, etc. ESO+ also doubles your bank space from 240 to 480.

Tying easier inventory management to the subscription was seen as a way to give the subscription value without giving subscribers an advantage in combat. The subscription is thus more "pay for convenience" than "pay to win".

Also, every player's inventory is stored remotely, on the server. It is not stored on your local computer like single player TES and Fallout games. If you accumulate so much inventory in Skyrim or Fallout 4 that your save game file is a terabyte, that is on you to have enough disk space, not the game publisher. If ESO gave every player free, unlimited storage, they would probably have to spend millions and millions on hardware upgrades to manage a database that large.

Try to bear in mind that with former TES and Fallout games, you were essentially buying a finished product. And the game is stored locally, on your computer. The publisher has no need to host a Skyrim or Fallout server. They do not need to keep developers working on it after release. With ESO, the game is never finished. There is a full-time team constantly working on it, including frequent balance changes and new systems that are added to base game at no additional cost to players.

There are constant, recurring costs to the publisher to keep ESO up and running that do not exist with other single player TES games or Fallout games.

As stated above create mules. Also of the periodic eso plus trials. If you need more space you can start a guild and ask friends or guildies yo help you unlock the bank. A slot of people do this and the boot everyone else once they have deposited to the limit. You could also take advantage of another Free event to just fill up said guild with free accounts you create yourself.

guild banks have a 500 item limit.
You only need to have 10 people in your guild for bank space
invite 50+ players anyway
Don't worry the turnover rate is high in this game for new players
after a few months kick out all the active players and invite new players again.
Do not give bank permissions to the guild!
I have players in my guild that have been offline for over 36 months now
I play PS4 so I created a few new PS4 accounts and have 3 personal guild banks.
One bank for furnishings
One for bind on equip gear
and one for the overflow of mats when I don't feel like paying for eso+
my main cannot access one of the banks the mats one.
I just send the overflow to my off account and that ones stores the stuff
When free eso+ comes around or I buy eso+ I just empty it out and fill my craft bag.

In game means:
140 Bag Space upgrades
60 Horse Space Upgrades

360 Storage Chests for Housing via Writs and/or Tel Var purchases.

It sounds like you haven't upgraded your bank space. From the bank interface you can purchase more slots similar to how the backpack upgrade works.
