PVE + PVP on one character..or no?

My main is a magsorc and up to now have mainly just PVE'd on him, but I'm thinking I'd like to do more PVP. Should I just make another sorc for PVP? How easy/hard is it to switch back and forth?

You absolutely can do both on the same character. You definitely need 2 gear sets though. And it's preferable if you pvp in no-cp environments, although you can halfway your CP between pvp and pve and not lose out on too much minmaxing.

I'd say make a different character for PvE and PvP. Each use different skill morphs.

PvP and PvE use completely different gear. They also use different CP allocations if you want to be fully optimized.

It's certainly doable, but it's high maintenance. If you're not super serious about PvP, it's not too bad (just swap out gear).

Yup! Okay, that's what I was thinking. It'd be nice to be able to use one character for both, but I don't like to switch out CP a lot. Thank you all for your feedback.

Can't speak to sorcerer but I do PvE tanking and PvP magicka DPS on my dragonknight, both extremely successfully.

I take my Stamblade into cyrodiil all the time with a PvE build. All i do is swap out a few skills and maybe a monster set and im good to go. I just deal with not having any Crit Resist.

I pve tank/dps, and PvP all in my Main stamblade. I use the dressing room add on to change builds on the fly.

You can only be "serious" in one of the two modes with one toon. You can play both modes on a toon no problem.

With my Healer as my main, I easily use my PvP gear for dungeons and PvE content, I just switch out some skills so I have a few more DPS and DoTs, so for sure doable if you're not looking to min max either of them!

I use my one character Stamina DK for both, it took a lot of skill points however

With the steeply diminishing returns on CP, and the current CP cap, it's not unrealistic to have a character that's highly capable in PvP and end-game competitive in pve, but it will require completely different gear sets and loadouts, and a big surplus of skill points.

My main is also my main crafter, so not a "big surplus of skill points" by a long shot.

I am leveling a warden and a templar that could pretty much be healers though and I'm wondering about the Dressing Room add-on. Does it also reallocate CP and skill bars for ya as well as switch gear?

Dressing room doesn't reallocate your skill points but you can use it to switch active skills on your bar

It can be done...I've done it myself. But after awhile, I just got tired of changing gear and CP around, so I eventually just made a separate character.
To me, it was worth it to not have to constantly go back and forth..
