Why?

Why are they always nerf'ing something in this game? Do they ever test it before they just throw it out there or did they put acuity ingame to give us dps because they know they totally screwed up by over nerf'ing builds? Is marjuana legal in the state the designers are working?

They are always nerfing something so that we have to keep grinding and keep chasing that meta and keep changing up our builds.

Because players that get effective gear and complete content feel satisfied, and if they continue to feel satisfied, they get bored and leave the game. Players that are constantly striving to get that meta gear they need to feel satisfied and effective stay in game, grinding away.

Agree with @Tasear ... rant threads with no specifics generally get locked sooner than later ...

I am sorry you feel that way. There's a lot of exicting content coming with this patch. If you look there's new opportunities to enjoy previously underwhelming styles along with some minor changes to others. It will be good patch.

This is a pitfall of horizontal progression. Varanis has it right, if the majority of players have nothing to shoot for, they get bored and leave. Not gonna lie, I don't play nearly as much anymore, but I go through spurts with all games.

It was needed. I use it too, and this nerf is going to make me deconstruct all of my gear, but now it's only good for certain builds rather than BiS for all if not nearly all builds. This is how it should be.

    1. Someone figures out a way of achieving great results.
    2. The popularity of that way spreads
    3. The way gets nerfed
    4. The cycle repeats ad infinitum

I'm pretty sure it's a reference to acuity. And really you shouldn't see much of a difference with weaving and most ability selection.

I didn't say I'm not excited. I am, partly because PVP is getting awesome changes.

But the chase-the-meta-carrot with constant needs and adjustments to sets and traits and all? Thats been a constant thing since One Tamriel, and its no accident. ZOS does it to keep us grinding instead of feeling satisfied, getting bored and leaving.

I agree with the chase-the-carrot theory. But I’m not convinced it is intensional.

Why not just balance the classes and spend the rest of time creating content, making armor sets that are more versatile
( like a set that gives 200 spell damage and 2500 magic as fifth piece) and making game run better. Plus improve regular loot in barrels and urns.

I dunno, after all the things ZoS has added to relieve the grind, I've hardly spent any time grinding at all

Here is another thing that makes me ask why. On warden the bird of prey morph.Cost magic, returns stam and buffs damage. If they want to balance classes then each skill should be intended for type of play first then morph to better fit magic or stam build. Its easy really. One morph that cost stam, returns stam. Second morph cost magic and returns magic. Obiviously stam would get dodge chance and magic damage multiplier. If not then make more than 2 morph options.

This must be your first MMORPG. Nerfs are expected.

The real issue is their overall change to toss things a bit more than other game. Especially which gear is best with each update.

I just dont believe you have to nerf things to keep the game exciting or to keep ppl coming back for more. Could have spent that time looking at all the unused sets and seeing what needs to be adjusted on them to make them viable ingame and endgame

This happens in every online game in one way or another. Just be prepared to chase the top most build or just settle with 80% output performance (which is more than enough IMO and requires changing only every 3 years or so)

To be fair, when we're being told, "everyone must run this set for all content ever," it might be a sign that something's a little out of whack.
