How long did it take you guys to find your perfect build

No need to state the build if you don't want to.

Took me two years and probably a couple million gold of mixing n matching sets until I finally got my nightblade where I wanted him to be.

How long did it take you guys to get one of your characters to your expectations?

Was a Stamblade in PVE but once someone suggest I play a Mageblade because of my play style, I haven't turned back since. Currently running Moondancer/Julianos/Skoria and I love it.

Oh a long time. As i avoid meta. I guess a year and felt my PvE was in a good place. Then hit a run of patch on patch nerfs that wrecked it, and continue to wreck everything i move to.

So i guess actually 3 years as im not happy right now

I needed the Summerset patch to buff my MagDK character so it was actually good.

Although I am still wearing Julianos instead of Sirioia or whatever. Oh and never even attempted Maelstrom arena

Well there is seeing as its up to the person running it to decide whether they're happy with it and that is what my question was hence the *perfect*. obviously there is no actual perfect build in ESO.

I finally found a Stam build (Stamden Medium Armor tank) that clicked with me. In four years I’ve NEVER liked a Stam toon, ever, since they just don’t have the sustain of a magika tank. I’ve also not enjoyed any of the bone pirate usual meta.This build works, though, and is super fun to play, and fully replaces the need for a healer in four man content. Also tanky as F in PVP without needing to run trollking and roll dodging every 5 seconds. SS will be transformative for him. Might even dabble in full on hybrid.

Cheers. I guess i made that sound overly negative, i mean i was there at times, but just seemed to struggle since. That said i guess i have progressed in content I'm trying to do. So perhaps its relative, but certain nerfs ground my gears lol

PvP had some real strong spells, and again a nerf etc has then really out me back then built back up and had another nerf.

I like the feeling of getting there i guess, but i do feel the big changes are a bit sudden sometimes. And if you don't just copy meta and have limited play time you are up against it.

Don't get me wrong ive had some GOLDEN times. Overload PvE era with 1000 Ultimate was epic, up yo Homestead I guess.

Anyway the quest for perfection continues lol

It took 6 months before I found the perfect build on Mag Sorc to fit my playstyle. It was a very unique build and to this day I still haven’t seen anyone play how I did.

But that was back mostly from the console launch of ESO up until Shadows of the Hist.

These days my build has been gutted more times than I can count lol. It was an extremely fast-paced playstyle that got rekt especially when Morrowind forced sustain into heavy attacks. Factor in the tons of nerfs to solo play as a whole, DW Mag builds dying, Frags losing its stun.... the build can still sort of be recreated but it’s horrible in the Meta nowadays of proc set stacking with tanky builds.

With how the current class system is i'd say i will never find my preferred build. If they start adding new "skill lines" as class, then maybe I will finally be able to mix and match a class that i would love to play.

You hear that ZoS? SKILL LINES, not classes.

I haven't found my perfect build yet..or rather, I haven't found my perfect skill rotation yet. I've been playing for a year and the half and still experimenting.

I've been playing since October '16 and while with the last patch I reached the ultra nice 30k DPS on Khajiit Stamina Nightblade as well as my other Stamina builds and with this patch using the stupid Relequen set (still salty over Acuity nerf) I have reached over 40k DPS. It's still not perfect, people parse MUCH higher than I do but at the end of the day I have to remind myself most players are sitting around 20K even in Summerset.

My Nightblade Tank didn't take too long to perfect, a few little tweaks each patch but I am proud to say I can tank vet trials with this build effectively. Not many Nightblade tanks can say that, I hope that changes because I think Nightblades are awesome tanks.

I still have no Idea what I am doing with healers. I had a Khajiit templar healer once... I respeced to tank during Morrowind. I tried leveling BiS templar but it was eh. Going to try an Argonian Nightblade healer (do you see a theme?).

Unlimited time, as zos keeps changing the game so hard my whole builds became useless with each patch. SS is the first patch that hasnt totally killed my build, but buffed it.

As someone who has played 6 characters in multiple scenarios, some of them for over 2 years, I can tell you there's no such thing as a "perfect" build, but many builds that are ideal for various roles, and situations. Also some of the major patches fundamentally change how some parts of the game work, so that "perfect" build, when found, may not actually last more than a few weeks. I am actually pretty good at determining what gear & skill combos provide a decent combination of stats, and from there onward is just a matter of learning to play the respective build. I don't always chase the latest popular sets, and I prefer using those that tend to hold up rather well against changes, and provide reliable performance over multiple scenarios. Sets such as Hunding, TFS, VO, Velidreth, Stormfist, Selene, Mephala, Julianos, BSW, IA, Grothdarr, Ilambris, Skoria, Zaan in PvE, Amber Plasm, Lich, Spinner, Julianos, Master Destro, Maelstrom Resto, Skoria, Hunding, Veiled Heritance, Bone Pirate, Eternal Hunt, Viper, Master 2H, Master Bow, Bloodspawn in PvP.

I also have a stamina character for every class and a second for Sorc and Nightblade (for 2h/bow builds because I don't feel like respecing each time). I have a few mag dps as well including magblade (lol) and magdk and even more recently a magplar khajiit.

I just keep going back to those nightblades though

I figured out my Stamplar, and StamWarden pretty quick with simple builds to suit me.

Mag Templar is healer...very easy build. Mag warden is my screw around guy.

Pet Sorc was a rough go until whichever patch buffed Necropotence. Remember it used to be only a Vet14 gear and pets would die very easily.

StamSorc is not a good test taker for me, but performs admirably in real combat.

StamBlade has been my main from the beginning and has under gone several iterations but he’s in a really good place right now.

MagBlade I’ve never really been that great with. Though she has done ok

My Stam DK was a tank. When I finished up Mag DK I was terrible with her. So they switched roles. Tank is fine now. Stam DK still needs work.

Been playing from -14 and yet to find a perfect build.

Maybe because i couldn't care less about build of the month or bis-builds. All my builds have been theorycrafted by me and with more general suitability in mind, rather than finding a build that is viable for a short time.

For example, my healer-build hasn't changed after One Tamriel and can still do pretty much anything game has to offer.

Still working on it. I’ve got my “meta” setup, but I like to tinker a lot, so I’ve got a bunch of setups I tend to rotate through and mess around with. I’m currently playing around with the Psijic skill line to see what kinds of builds I can make with it.

I love hearing everyone's stories but I swear to Akatosh if another person comes in here like "Akctuallllyyyyyyy ther is no prefekt build" I'm gonna have a stroke. We understand that! this is a PERSONAL THING for how long it took people to be happy with their builds.

4 years xD Now i can be a proper tank thanks to summerset skill changes! And in general after 4 years of nerfs/buffs/overhauls it's finally feels good to be a nightblade.
