Weird mark on my horse's head

Anyone else ever notice this? Been around for as long as I can remember, but there's a weird spider looking mark on my horses head. Seems to be on all the horses, even the ones I preview in the crown store.

Horses crown, similar to the ones humans have (no doubt most hairy species have them, never thought about it).

Mayhaps, but it's the same mark on ALL my horses. Makes me feel like it's a brand or something

As Zorgon mentioned, it is the horses hair whorl. It is actually one way that breeders document the characteristics of their horse seeing as it can be in different places on the horse.

A hair whorl is natural and unique. These aren't.

How do you want to make them look "unique"?
Place different textures on million of copies of the same mounts in game?

Do you guys really expect ZOS to place the whorl differently on every single player horse?

That's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying I don't think the mark is a whorl, so I'm curious as to what it is

Also curious as to whether other people do or don't have this on theirs.

Looks like its the seam where the textures meet. You can see the seam line continue up through the headpiece.

Unless my horse has turned to Mephala worship after I took it over one too many cliffs...

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. It's more obvious on some of the horses than others but they all have it. All their markings are also all completely symmetrical if you look at them from one side, then the other (same with pets) so I'm really not shocked. I think the symmetry bothers me more than the whorl.

if they managed to get the seam to look like that... that's actually pretty baller

I am sure that if you spend enough time on the internet you will be able to find a reference picture of a real horse that the ZOS artist used to create it. The reason why all of the horses in the game have it in the same place is most likely because all they do is modify the base horse model with any new stuff. AKA Reskin.

This is very true and sometimes, like humans, they will have a double whirl, a few of ours had it
