Let's Talk House Sizes

The other topic I want to bring up is the lack of small/medium-sized houses of late, ZOS opting for the manses and whatnot has left us bereft of other options. I think this is silly, and I'll explain why.

Now, I can easily afford the manses but I choose to buy medium size houses like the Lake House, Sleek Creek, the Alinor manse, and others. Why? I feel genuinely oerwhelmed by the size of the larger houses. I'd simply love to have a medium-sized house in either the Brass Fortress or Abah's Landing. Sadly, both of these very desirable locations only have oversized manses as options.

I'm overwhelmed by the larger sizes because they're a nightmare to decorate, and as an autistic person with anxieties, I'm a little agoraphobic. I can feel overloaded by wide, open spaces. I like having small, enclosed spaces I can retreat to as they're more cozy, homey, and welcoming. I just don't have either the time nor the inclination to deal with a large house in ESO. Crafting for and decorating one of those beasts would feel like a second job.

So, poll time!

Do you think ZOS should concentrate on adding more small/medium-sized houses in areas that don't have them?

Like you, the big homes are nice and all but they're (some anyway) just too over the top for me. Make nice guild houses though.

I prefer the mid-range and would like to see more. Not even picky as to where.

I think more medium/small sizes, that aren't built in a "Let's make this unattractive enough to push people to buy bigger sizes" type. Maybe some small/medium caves, or tree fort types or something? Or some cheaper large ones?

Personally I like small/medium houses much more, than big ones. For me it's hard to fill large space with details on the level, which I consider to be satisfactory.

I too enjoy the medium and smaller large homes available ingame for coin . Easier to decorate and furniture limit does not leave them feeling empty still .

This is often requested and not just recently, let's see if the next will be a huge place again, at that point I better stop to care. And such awesome areas we lack small and medium houses, it would be great to have some in the Gold Cost for example, personally I would like Anvil, or Wrothgar for people who like that style (both requested multiple times in the housing section).
If they want I keep spending on housing they better do so, because I don't even look at large houses with the low furnishing slots number we have, I'm interested in small/medium ones only and as soon as I finish to decorate the small and medium I have, the housing game is pretty much dead for me.

I love decorating small and medium houses. The only large house I really enjoyed decorating was the Alinor Townhouse, because I could easily block off some rooms on the ground floor and make it into a medium house with a 600 item limit. ;-)

Yes, I do that for my medium houses if too large to decorate, cutting off some space is the only way, though if they are not nicely separated rooms as in Alinor house, more slots may be required/wasted for a good separation, ald velothi has been terrible for me in that regard, so messy to entirely exclude the upper floor, it costed me lot of slots.

I want a small starter home in Balmora!

ZOS so missed the ball on that one; everyone who ever modded Morrowind or downloaded mods for Morrowind had a home in Balmora at some point, its needed for nostalgia sake.

I'd also like a small farm cottage in the Breton style similar to captain Margaux's place, but with a second room to use as a bedroom and a garden outside.

I don't like large houses, I like small and cozy ones.

I like medium houses too, for much the same reasons already given - I find them easier to decorate and I often think they actually look nicer too. The big houses are ok if you want a guild hall or don't mind spreading out a few big furnishings but they're difficult to decorate as houses, especially for just 1 character.

I am planning to buy the Alinor house but even sharing it between my crafter and sorcerer it seems too big. (It also seems unfair that they get a bigger house than my mains, but I'm working within the options I've got.)

For Ald Velothi, I ended up clearing out the yard, to decorate the inside. Sadly you always port into this empty yard. :'(

I'd like a medium house like the Thanes house in Invarstad. Something a little larger than Mistveil manor but Not as large as Hakkvild's ..

and can we have doors? Maybe a craftable

Just a covering .. much like curtains that you can walk through.. but block the view until you travel through them... Just a thought.

    I have multiple large houses.....

    They mostly act as garages!

I really enjoyed decorating Gardner House in Wayrest, 600 slots with ESO+, it actually allowed for some detail...….

Relatively small outside area and 3 floors.....

Ok more slots would be nice BUT now when looking at homes now I most definitely think about what available slots they have.

Answers C because it does not really matter, Many know the forum polls are not statistically relevant, not to mention OP skewed it by design.

Alinor Crest Townhouse that is added as part of Summerset is a medium sized home. I find it odd that such a subject is brought up when a home in the range OP suggests is not happening yet he fails to achknowledge that. idk, maybe he is on console and does not know.

The Alinor Crest Townhouse is huge. It may not be a palace, but it's enormous for a townhouse. When I think of small/medium, I think of a place like Cliffshade.

I'd love to have a small house in a city. I don't see the point of having a big house in ESO, honestly. I tend to find the big houses in ESO a little depressing because, well, they may be nice to look at, but ultimately, they're just vast, lifeless spaces. I love my palatial houses in Skyrim because I can house my spouse, children and followers there... unfortunately here in ESO we can't even get a bard in our house.

I don't, at this particular moment, personally *want* smaller houses, but if they offered nice, tightly designed, appealing smaller houses in intriguing or useful locations, I'd might actually WANT one, which is why I feel that they *should* continue making them

Alinor Crest Townhouse is rightly classed as a large home, not medium. To use the same example as Breton Mage, just Alinor's Crest Townhouse terrace is already bigger than the entire floor plan of Cliffshade!

Ald Velothi is the last medium home that has been added to the game, and that was over a year ago. Every home that has been added since is a manor or a large home, hence this thread. I was looking forward to Summerset, hoping that now finally a medium home would be added to the game, and greatly disappointed that it was only a large home.

I think the OP wants all house sizes (small, medium, large) for all cities in which there is a house.

Because of the strict limit on furnishings having a bigger house just means you have an emptier house.

The medium houses are just more convenient to decorate and feel properly full and lived in.

I want more medium houses, but with a bigger player cap.

Some of the classics like Hunding's and Strident Springs are wayyyyyy too large to justify only holding 12 players.

But I'm tired of the only new houses being massive. I want cozier homes that are still big enough to fit 20+ people...
