Can we change dungeon difficulty default order.

Hi,

Firstly I’m on PS4. I’ve started doing veteran dungeons and noticed a few really annoying things.

Firstly, as we have no way to check DPS, if a boss is taking ages to die, it’s hard to know why.

This has lead me on occasion to look at other players and lo and behold, the reason is obvious. I’m seeing DPS with 27k health, even saw one with 47k (how is that even possible).

This makes me think these people have never done dungeons seriously before.

Then I realise this may not be their fault. In PS 4 the default difficulty is Veteran, not normal. You need to change difficulty to do normal.

This is utterly ridiculous. If you don’t think about settings, your not going to do well in veteran dungeons.

It’s an easy fix, set default to normal and require intervention to choose veteran. Then no more novices just entering veterans by default. If they are there they chose to be there.

This needs fixing soon. I’m fed up of seeing a boss health only going down by 10k per second when that’s mostly me, as tank.

Then don’t even get me started on hard modes, it should require others confirmation. It should not be possible for one DPS to just activate it, especially when they don’t know the mechanics or how to DPS, just because they think it’s a book to read.

These things are obvious to me. Do I expect to much logic in my games?

For hardmodes, what would people think of a timer. So after a certain amount of time, you can’t activate it. So take too long to get to the final boss and the game just knows your not capable enough, so doesn’t give the ability to activate it.

That is actually happening in the next update. In the group finder, you have to select vet now. First noticed it when I joined a norm run by accident. Something I need to watch out for but much more new player friendly.

If that’s for real. That makes me very happy :)

Would be a bad thing for those clearing it first (maybe even on PTS/first days of a patch). After fighting your way to the endboss you will usually atleast try hardmode...this would really upset lots of people i guess. Noone wants to get faster with thrash/first few bosses just to practice hardmode on the last one.

Leery. Sometimes folk stop to discuss tactics or because someone had to do a quick afk or to sort out equipment etc.

Why would you be trying hard mode for your first try? You’ve not even cleared it on vet yet?

This is part of the issue. You want to skip natural progession, just as a matter of course.

Maybe a timer is not the best idea, but it should require confirmation from more than one person. Or maybe even have it so you require vet completion achieve before you can activate hard mode.

I don’t know about other tanks, but to me when a terrible dps activates it, it’s them saying I want you lot to carry me through this. It’s rude in the extreme.

Even had one activate it, keep dieing then wrote “sorry guys I’m getting terrible lag all day today”. As if queuing for veteran and then activating hard mode, knowing you can’t perform is not his problem.

I always did so when clearing vCoA, vICP, vWGT on live and vRoM/vCoS on PTS. I can't see the problem, some people are just good enough to atleast try (and maybe even clear) hm on their first attempt. Maybe put such restrictions in groupfinder, but not in general for all dungeon runs.

I’m suspecting you have decent gear, matched sets, a balanced group, knowledge of rotations. The DPS with 47k health has none of that.

I’m hoping just the change to default difficulty being to normal will solve this.

I’m hoping these people do it by accident.

Setting defaultdifficulty to normal is a great thing, nothing to argue here. But i wouldn't put a timer in there, which may prevent you from activating hardmode....maybe for groupfinder, but not for all dungenruns... (as mentioned)

It already is live on PC NA I havent had to change the dungeon difficulty to normal since summerset dropped. Now if they would just split the random queues between base and DLC dungeons.

Well, on the first time we got to zaan on vet, we decided to read the scroll just to see what sort of changes appeared. We quickly gritted our teeth at the sight of that nereid and cursed upon notice of the disco ball from hell, it was a short period of utter chaos followed by the silence of a wipe, but it was fun. We knew before even reaching her that we would be happy for the clear, hard mode was just to take a peek.

It got switched on PC with summerset and I am VERY appreciative. I was one of those victims that meant to queue NORMAL and got Vet cause not only was Vet on top but it reverts once you leave a dungeon (using Specific). Now it is FAR more intuitive, and yes I was to blame but the simplification makes it pretty much fool proof.
