Why though? Even 160,000 would have been excessive. I am not getting it. Are you hoping people will buy massive amounts of Crowns to sell via the gifting system for gold in game?

They want gold jewelry to be hard to get I assume to keep the golden vendor relevant. But, I don't get why it should take so much for green, blue, and purple. Many complained during PTS with no response from ZOS.

Hopefully they will change after some time.

I am with you that 1.5 million gold is a little pricey - just wait sometime - I am sure the prices will drop some more -
but 160,000 would really be too cheap for my taste.

Secondly. Odd that you then Immediatly link to the crown gifting thing. That's quite a jump.
