Character Selection

I've suggested this before, but it's been a while and I haven't seen or heard anything new about this, so I'm posting it again.

I'm a little bit OCD, so I like to have things organized. Thus, I find it a source of some stress that my character selection screen doesn't let me arrange the characters how I like. Personally, I'd probably sort them by faction, but others might do it alphabetically, or by level, or what have you.

So, my suggestion (request) is that it be made possible to rearrange the list of characters on the selection page.

I can't imagine it would be difficult to do...

That's not OCD.

This gets requested all the time. But it's probably at the bottom of ZOS' list of priorities. Something like this doesn't add any value to the game, so it's unlikely they will invest any man hours into changing it.

With new characters starting in Summerset (I assume), I would have loved to have my Altmer character start there. However, I'm stuck because he's halfway up the list of my characters, and I'd have to delete them in order to recreate him (and then them) in the correct order.

So, once again, I'd love to have the ability to rearrange the list of characters.

That is like OCD... but with the letters in alpabetical order, As. They. Should. Be!

...and many of us are right there with you!

I mean, how hard can it be to have some "order by..." criteria? Date created like now, plus... Alphabetical per name, Faction per alliance, Total Time Played, Time elapsed since last played, Class, or even just player-assigned number? Possibly with an option to select primary and secondary sorting priorities?

Even if they let us drag and drop them in sequence, then they don't have to set up any sorting algorithm at all.

Top 4 characters are AD, next 4 are EP, and then I have 7 DC characters including where my 3 Wardens are located, not because I like DC all that much it's just I'm unable to move characters around without having to delete them to do so. I live with it... like an itch you can't scratch because it lives under your skin.

It's been talked about before, and zos did comment once that its not a simple thing for do for some legacy reason. But yeah if the function was there id be shuffling them about.

No, they would just need to do a ton of work on the back-end to remember their positions, not to mention front-end work to the GUI to make them dragable. It would be much easier to sort, I imagine there are already sorting algorithms in the code.

Lol rly? Sorting 15 elements is a trouble? Lol! You could do this on microwave... It's one of the most anticipated cosmetic changes though.

Edit: About legacy. They don't need to change hierarchy of their objects, don't need to change their order... I don't see why they would. Just add method that will return list of characters in some order pointing on their place in memory. It's lazyness IMHO.

When I Want my characters in right order I delete them and create again. And level to 50 again. And collect skyshards/books again. And farm dolmens again. And train horses again.

Yes, it IS OCD.
