The worst part about this is, tanks usually experience less than 10 seconds of queue time. I only random in on tanks these days, unless I'm in a partial premade.

1h Lich swords, especially before transmutation. At least I could just solo normal if nobody wanted to group.

I got my 4th one a few days ago on a daily, after asking the group for any 2h Lich lol. Order received: Sharpened, Powered, Decisive, Infused.

Maybe not the worst RNG but I remember how bad I felt when from 2k ore I got only 4 tempering alloys. Also roes are the real nightmare for me

I join the Night Mothers Sorrow grind by saying purple jewellery! Roughly 6 hours running Dolmens the last couple of days and I’ve had 6 purple rings, no neck..... 4 x Embrace and 2 x Plague Doctor

Anyone on PS4 EU (I don’t know about other regions or console) will know just how shocking the price on all NMS is in guild traders. Both are going for 50k plus, the inferno staff..... 150k plus for green... if your lucky

70 CoA runs so far without a Sunderflame dagger...and I need 2.

About half of those have been solo and half with a group. So averaging one chest per run plus the end boss, that’s about 350 opportunities and haven’t seen one.

Second would be the 89 keys used in an undaunted chest to get velidreth shoulders of any type or trait. At the time, there were only about 6 sets available from that chest.

I needed one green recipe for my provisioner to have every recipe in the game. It was a level 25 recipe and it took me a long time to eventually stumble across one in an off the beaten path guild store. The mid level recipes can be tough to find if you don't plan ahead.

Back before they changed how monster helms drop, I ran the dungeon for Bloodspawn probably 70 times before I got it to drop. It sucked soooo bad and took sooooo long to finally get the drop. Now people give away helms, kinda funny now lol

moondancer/aether/bsw inferno staff. Didnt matter which one of these to me, but it still took about half a year of farming to finally get an aether staff in sharpened. I have gotten plenty of these by now, but back then I had really unimaginable bad luck, I basicly lived in coa1.
Best thing was that after about a month a friend that joined for a run with his 38 char got dropped the sharpened staff. It was not so much fun. I have gotten 9 sharpened inferno staffs of the wrong sets from coa, but not the one I was looking for.

Im glad sharpened meta is no more and transmutation is there now, otherwise wouldnt have a maelstrom inferno to use because thats another thing I never got in sharpened, but that was much less frustrating because I dumped so damn much time in farming coa, nmol, craglorn vetraids and so on.

Now I can just laugh about farming because you only have to get the right type of drop and then change its trait. Been farming with a friend thats pretty new to the game to get him a lich shield and he was discouraged after 2 days. I have become resistant to farming!

For me, Valkyn Skoria shoulders. Made a character on Xbox about six months ago (previously played on PS4).

Stared doing undaunted stuff. Turned in my keys (those two you get before level 50) after I turned level 50. The very first chest I open, I get the Valkyn Skoria shoulders. Mind you, at this time, didn't know what they were, didn't know what monster sets were, I hadn't been paying that much attention up until this point. So I deconned the, for some reason only god knows.

Well, since then, after realizing what the Valkyn Skoria set is, been farming Glirion's chest for the shoulders. Literally getting everything but that shoulder (currently farming for ilambris now.)

Well last week or so, I got the helmet from farming AP points and bout it from the golden, since I'm not that strong enough to hold my own in vCoA2 without causing everyone to wipe too many times.

Still needed the shoulders to complete the set, and just recently got them. All I need to do it transmute them now.

I've been grinding Grothdarr shoulder piece for whole month for my MagDK. Doing daily pledges with 3 of my chars, not a single Grothdarr. And i am not talking about specific weight or trait, no Grothdarr AT ALL. It must be 150 or 200 keys at this point...

Man, I was the same way with Infernal Guardian I believe. Trying to get shoulders to drop out of those dang chests was a joke for me. Prob got 100 of that Iceheart set and whatnot before I got my first shoulder I could even use.

Soloing Direfrost for Hulking Draugr jewelry and armor. I had to do the death trick every single time to get past the pressure plate stage. Last thing I needed was a necklace (of course) and after about 24 runs in two days, I found it in a damn simple chest after killing the final boss. I got like 13 HD rings to deconstruct. Direfrost is on my list of hated dungeons now due to repetition right after Darkshade II, Volenfell, CoA , VoM (stuck using a pet build for the harvester boss) and CoH.

I don't really have bad RNG, I just gimp myself doing everything solo.

VoM healing staff...ran it over 450 times (started day 1 of One Tamriel, finally got it 130 runs after changes that guaranteed boss drops) and I don't even use that staff anymore

Ilambris shoulders. Still don't have those.
Automaton jewelry. Just have a necklace.

Jewelry in particular seems like it'd be a super grind for any dungeon simply because the chances of it dropping are so low compared to getting an armor piece.

Once upon a time I decided that I must have two sharpened BSW inferno staves. I eventually got them, but at what cost? My sanity and my social life. NEVER AGAIN.

But the worst RNG-related grind was that dungeon/sweepstakes event a while ago. Grinding dungeons I'm bored with, using the group finder which I hate, doing pugs which makes me want to stab myself in the eye or running groups with the absolute biggest a-holes in my then guilds because all the nice people already had run their dungeons for the day. All I wanted was the stoopid blacksmith outfit. Did I get it? Nope. Did I get anything that made any of it seem at all worth it? Not even remotely. Never again.

Once I got it I never ran VMA again. Still haven’t.
