Why can't we feed all our mounts from one character?

Even if there are reasons not to have mounts upgrade for the account rather than per character...It would be hella nice to be able to feed them all from one character...no?

It's probably because of how the system worked at launch where each mount per character had its own stats.

When they moved it over to all mounts per character they also added in the chance to buy riding lessons, I would imagine it's because it's a system whilst frustrating still earns them some revenue via sales of books on the Crown Store.

It would be good benefit of housing. So you can feed active mount on all characters in your stables.

    This ^

Seriously you should see the pricing math for it....its gross how much it all actually costs. Hundreds of dollars if you fill all stats with pure purchases from the crown store.

I wish they cut the crown cost in half. Seriously. Way more people would buy them.
Ah, e-communities - the "pinnacle" of the internet............yeah, right.

Probably for the same reason you can't send your brother to class in your place if you want to learn something, since you are training your characters' riding skill.

"Feeding your mount" is a remnant of the previous system that Turelus described. No mounts have been fed since Tamriel Unlimited came out.

That said, I never felt the need to buy crown scrolls. Closest I've got was getting them from the free crown crates.

Now excuse me while I go train my most recent character.

I was just suggesting that we could upgrade every character's mount from one character (rather than having to log each one on)...you would still have to pay the cost (250g) per and each would level independantly...it would just serve to eliminate the annoying need to log each and every character into game and move to a stable...it wouldn't change how fast each leveled or the cost or any of that...so there would be no change with the riding lesson scrolls...if you wanted to level your character's skills faster you would still need to purchase those. It just really sucks to have to go through the load screens in and out in order to upgrade the damn things...I would find it hard to believe anyone liking it :p

Well...if you believe that...then I assume you feel that CP shouldn't be shared across characters then? (under the same principle)

You messed up a quote there.

I guess it depends on what you see CP as being. If they are knowledge, then you have a point. If they are a resource that is shareable, like wealth or family power then no.

If it makes you feel better, I don't assign CP to characters before they are level 50.

It would be nice. As well as get all hirelings from one character. But people abused that at launch, so now we can't have nice things.

ooph! Right sorry, yeah this would be nice. I've also in the past said it would be nice to be an option from the character select screen.

You aren't upgrading the mount anymore; you're upgrading the character "skills". Its actually better than the original setup; mounts weren't account wide.

It would, however, be really nice if you could do the riding skills upgrade from the log-in/pick your character screen. Would definitely cut down on loading screen time. [Yes, I know its my own fault that I made a full set of alts. :P]

The horse stats are still tied to the character as they were at launch. The only change is the upgrades were merged and shared across all mounts the character had.

So the character would still need to be doing the feeding of their own mounts either way. It is really that simple as to why we need to swap characters to feed mounts.

all mounts are perfect. players, however are attenuated. you must amplify your abilities as a rider to be a good partner with your full menagerie of steeds, so the training is for you, not for your steed, who is already a paragon of a mount.

If there weren’t constant loading screens, this wouldn’t be an issue. The issue is, we all have a finite amount of time to play the game, and time savers that allow more time to play and less time checking Facebook while waiting for a load screen to switch characters would be a huge benefit.

Even better would be a way two switch characters without a load screen somehow, which I get is probably some super complicated technical issue. But it wouldn’t seem that hard to let me pay 3000g to upgrade 12 character mounts at once.

Because they seek to lengthen this requirement in order to leverage the crown store offerings or cause ppl to log in daily among other daily activities.

They want more of your time in this game and not elsewhere. (Selfish business intent)

    Mounts are no longer "fed".
Instead the caracters themselves train their "riding skills".
As such, I can see why you can manage each only from the character it concerns...

...what vexes me a lot more tho is that riding training does not stack like enlightment. Bummer for those people who cannot log in every day due to work, but play more on the weekends...

Buuuuttttt... I guess since they want to sell crown store riding lessions, we can't realyl expect them to change anything here. (Still not gonna buy those, I don't care if my alts need another year or two to finally max their horses...)

Another one of the system that is needed and easily implemented but somehow they still haven't found a way to earn some revenue from it. Take outfitting for example, a simple tool but yet it took them 4 years to get implemented but not without a micro-transaction in mind. To sum it all up, this is all psychological marketing.

Horse stats were tied to the horse, which was tied to the character. A character could have several horses, but each horse could only be "fed" 50 times. So you could have a fast horse that you had stacked speed on, a packing horse that had inventory, a horse with 30 stam/30 speed for Cyrodiil, etc.

That is a bit of a bummer. But on the bright side, riding training is on a 20-hour timer, rather than 12/24 hours like the hirelings, so you have a bit of leeway.

It is clearly a stretch to call this lazy dev coding. Seem more trying to be salty.

Heck, many players already have to log in and out on multiple characters they do writs on. That is certainly not due to lazy coding. This is no different.

I say just introduce a stablemaster NPC assistant into the crown store.

It isn't as good of a QoL change as being able to do it for all characters from one instance, but at least it's a start.

They make money off bank upgrades too, but still gave ESO+ double space. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. :)
