Missing Skillpoints on Respec [Resolved: No Skill Points Missing]

There's actually a bit of a question here.

Because of the cheap respecs, I went through and cleared my spent SP on every character.

I've been using Urich's Skill Point Finder for the last couple months because it's a really convenient tool for identifying what characters have, and have not done. On 13 characters, USPF correctly identified the number of skill points a character should have.

On two of my characters, it's wrong by three points. In both cases, they're short three skill points The only thing (I'm aware of) that those two characters have in common is they have completed the Psijic questline. According to USPF, there are six skill points on Summerset, the main quest gives 3, and the Psijic skill line gives three. The character who has completed both displays 6/6, while the one who has only completed the Psijic line is at 3/6.

I suspect, if you reallocate your skills, the skill points earned from advancing the Psijic questline are lost rather than refunded.

EDIT: The USPF is reporting three skill points for completing The Queen's Decree. While this was the case on the PTS, it is not true on the live build.

Possible. But, totaling up the skill points appears to match. I think there's three skill points awarded as you advance through the Psijic questline, but I'm not 100% certain.

Did you have vampire or werewolf and get cured without first refunding all skill points?

Because in the past, those skill points would not be refunded by a skill point respec.

This is something both characters have in common, actually. My main was rolled up back in 2014, originally she was a werewolf. I switched to Vampirism around the time of Dark Broterhood. My Warden was rolled up shortly after Morrowind launched, originally she was a Vampire, but I cured her and switched to Werewolf at a later date (because at the time, both my Wardens were vampires.) (And, while this is correct, I'm pretty sure that bug was addressed years ago, so it shouldn't be able to afflict my Warden.)

Thing is, I've also got a stam sorc who was originally a werewolf, and then changed to vampire years ago, before my main in fact, but all of her skill points are accounted for.

Morrowind and summerset both have skillpoints that are unobtainable by pre morrowind an summerset characters from their tutorial. The add-on will only track if you did the tutorial for a skillpoint but you still get one if you skipped morrowind's and summerset tutorial.

While this is correct. Each one has a single skill point that is locked by the tutorial. The Warden has the Morrowind skill point, while the character created in 2014 does not (for obvious reasons). So, this one can't be a factor.

heard about this stupid bug. It's ridiculous, really. Imagine a player that doesn't have this information and does it. He could lose up 20 skill points forever, which is complete bullshift. Why don't they give a warning or something if you're about to cure it while having skill points invested in the tree.

That might be the issue. Those skill points might not exist. That's kinda the question.

Huh, digging around, the addon author seems to think there are three skill points associated with The Queen's Decree. Which, sounds bonkers, and doesn't mesh with my recollection of that quest at all.

That was a PTS bug ... three skill points for the Queen’s Decree. It’s since been fixed for Live, but maybe the add-on author is still trying to catch up?

At any rate, simply go to the skill respec shrine and see what the total cost is to respec ... and divide that total by 50 to get what the game says your total character skill points are. Then, check that versus the add-on to see how far off the add-on skill point count is.

I think the addon author hasn't run it since the PTS, since they're still claiming it has three associated with it.

No, you only get skill points from the Summerset quest line. There are no skill points awarded from doing the Psijiic Order Guild quests.

Addon author here (Urich). Can you cite this change to the PTS or to the live server? I've scoured all of the PTS and live patch notes and there's no mention of any change to skill points. I can push an update to the addon sooner if anyone can say, with certainty, which quests award skill points and exactly how many are awarded by the respective quests. Here's what I've got in there right now. Otherwise, it'll be a few days before I'll have time to push through that quest line again. Thanks.

No, you only get skill points from the Summerset quest line. There are no skill points awarded from doing the Psijiic Order Guild quests.

Yeah, The Queen's Decree does not award skill points on live. I neglected to take a screenshot last night on the completion screen, but there were no points awarded. I suspect this was changed in 4.0.5, but didn't make it to the notes, because that was the first live build so, "we changed the rewards for a quest that never existed on the live fork before today," wouldn't have made much sense.

I did confirm that this is also where the skill point discrepancy occurs. I completed it on an alt last night, checking the SPF before and after turning in Decree. It shows an increase of three skill points, but none were awarded.

If you really want, I can run Decree on an alt in a couple hours and take a screenshot of the reward page.

Yeah, the first quest feels like they stitched at least two quests together. Since there's at least two distinct climaxes in there. But, anyway, as requested:

Thanks. Yeah, I ran through the entire questline tonight on one of my alts. They definitely changed things. I'll push an update sometime tomorrow.
