Gelatite Ore

Lady_of_Tamarah
Can anyone advise me if they know of any guild traders selling Gelatite Ore. I have tried traders in Daggerfall but no-one has any.

I am a CP130 level but keep mining Voidstone Ore mostly and more rarely some Gelatite and keep running out !!

I seem to be spending half a day running round mining ore just to mine enough (or not) for the next days crafting

Any help appreciated !

I think you would be better off buying intricate gear for deconstruction and leveling your crafting to the maximum than trying to get hard to find materials. Once you level past it, you will probably never have a call for galatite again.

I hear ya on getting mats for those dailies. what I did was just run dolmens and decon everything. I leveled 4 different crafts that way. now you can do jewelry too so make it 5. just make sure you loot the bodies too.

though it might not get you mats for your writs you will level out of it faster too eliminate the need.

Thanks for the advice ! I usually deconstruct some but from now will deconstruct all I get.

In the meantime I did a couple of Blacksmiths map and got at least enough for the next couple of days !

As this discussion recently came up within my main guild regarding leveling Jewelry Crafting... I wanted to offer some related information as I am assuming a few things here: 1) you're doing writs (why else make CP40-60) and your Blacksmithing passive is ranked to 7 and 2) you're not building items for friends. This may be your first character too so the following is meant moreso for alts:

    1. Daily Writ inspiration is horrible, measly, puny and whatever other adjectives you want to use for insufficient. But at the same time, the daily writ isn't really there for experience, it's for getting a payoff of goods for your work and potential master writs.
    2. Farm/grind for items at your current level and break them down - the inspiration gain is far better and gear from mobs works sufficiently well. I recommend resetting your skills and not allocating points to the Blacksmithing passive, leave it at 1 until you're craft skill level 50.

If none of this applies for you, disregard... but it may contain some advice for others.

a long time ago before master crafting writs I actually thought I shouldnt upgrade my skills to the last tier, because then I would have to make rubedite and I thought it needed the same amount of rubedite, which I hadnt and I didnt have Vetlevel160 yet.. so I thought I couldnt do them.. I should have looked that up better then or asked questions..

Thanks for all your advice guys ! Yes this is my first character (and MMO) so I am learning a lot through her

I do crafting for the gold and leveling really and have 3 characters that all do crafting 1st thing to build my gold reserves and of course it gives them experience too

I used a couple of the Blacksmith maps and was able to mine at a high yield which will help for a couple of days

I have taken your advice on board though and thanks !

More deconstructing for now on then :p

What server are you on? I can toss some Galatite your way if you're on PC-NA and provide your username.
Is Uncle John's band calling you? Do you daydream about Sugar Magnolias? Is your favorite sunflower a China Cat? Tired of Truckin' alone to Terrapin Station? If so, share some Space with other hippies & deadheads in the guild Sunshine Daydream! Send a message in game (PC-NA) to Kaibeth for your invitation.

It’s hard to find craft supplies in guild traders now. Wayrest, mounrhold, elden root, rawlkha...those are the best spots, so the places I’d look.

For smith and wood you probably want to rush level those lines and then do top level writs. The mats are so prolific they’re cheaper...and rubedite is in every dang trader, lol.. Plus you make half as many items at those levels somits less tedious. Cloth is a bit expensive if you have to buy it...but those are still worth doing at max level.

You could also put out a zone chat in those trade cities asking to buy some. On my server, $4-$6k per 200 is fair, maybe a little cheaper. Vet players have it loaded down in their craft bags...it’s just boring to pull it to sell it off. I probably have 8,000 at least. So people probably have some to sell if you ask.

It's really only an issue on your first character, as once you have a crafter to pass down items for deconstruction, you can raise your level on an alt, so they don't need that material. While you're flying solo, the only option is to quest for loot to break down instead.

After you have your first character up to CP160, and making ruby level, then everything he or she gathers will be at that level. There will be one big dip as you outfit them in max-level gear, which takes a lot of material, but you'll quickly replenish that supply. Making CP150 items for the alts to break down will rapidly bring those up past the difficult levels that nobody uses or gathers, and you'll get enough returned from the high-level character's writs to do the lower ones without much harvesting.

Bring crafters up one at a time, and leave all the other alts at rank 1, using the iron/jute/rawhide/maple mats, for which you get shipments returned from their own writs, plus those of the one crafter who'd being moved up. The shipments are always of lower-level mats than the writ, except at the bottom level, where there isn't a lower one. If you have a lot of alts doing writs, then Jute may start going short. Move one of them up to Clothier 2 and use up the stock of Linen the first one or two left behind, or got returned as shipment from the top crafters. The same applies for maple, but that's less likely.

The more high-level crafters you have, the easier it gets to move another one up, as their writs keep returning the lower-level mats the others will need, and nobody uses those until they pass through that level. The limiting factor rapidly becomes skill points, not materials, and they'll have to hunt skyshards.

Thanks very much for all your advice guys !

My character has worked hard kicking arse today and managed to get to level 50 - CP146.

Blacksmithing is now level 49 after I purchased lots of stuff to deconstruct. Hopefully I won't have that problem too much longer !

I already hunt for skyshards so she can keep getting skills to max them out ! Although only do delves and no public dungeons
